You know what struck me first about Apartment HH West? It’s one of those places where someone actually thought about how people live, not just where they sleep for a night. I mean, the name sounds a bit corporate – “modern und komfortabel” – but honestly, they’re not overselling it. The space feels like what would happen if your friend with really good taste let you crash at their place for a week.

The apartment sits in this quiet residential area that most tourists never stumble across, which is honestly part of its charm. You’re not dealing with the usual hotel lobby chaos or fighting for elevator space with tour groups. Instead, you get your own key, your own space, and – this was huge for me – actual counter space in the kitchen. I’m talking full-sized appliances, not those tiny hotel mini-fridges that barely fit a water bottle. The design leans heavily into that clean, minimalist thing that Germans do so well, but it doesn’t feel cold or sterile. There’s this warmth to the lighting, and the furniture is actually comfortable to sit on (you’d be surprised how many “modern” places forget about that part).

What really won me over, though, were the little details that show someone who runs this place has actually stayed in hotels before. The shower has proper water pressure – like, actually good water pressure. The bed is positioned so you’re not staring directly into a streetlight all night. There’s enough plug outlets that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and using the bedside lamp. And the Wi-Fi? Well, it actually works consistently, which feels like a minor miracle sometimes. The neighborhood itself is pretty residential and quiet, especially in the evenings, though you’ll hear some street activity during morning rush hour – nothing terrible, just the usual city sounds. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving, since it’s street parking mostly, but that’s pretty standard for this part of town. I’d definitely recommend this place if you want something that feels more like living somewhere than just visiting – plus with ratings like theirs (8.8 is pretty solid), you know other people are having good experiences too. It’s the kind of spot where you might actually find yourself cooking breakfast instead of rushing out to find coffee, and sometimes that’s exactly what a trip needs.

  Wir waren zur viert, für 3 Nächte, in der gemütlichen Ferienwohnung und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Wohnung ist hübsch und wirklich zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Wir konnten unser Auto kostenlos auf der Straße parken und mit dem Bus Nr. 2 bequem zu den Landungsbrücken und zur Elbphilharmonie fahren. Die Haltestelle ist nur 500 m entfernt.
  
  What could be improved: Die Betten speziell im größeren Schlafzimmer sind sehr durchgelegen und sollten ausgetauscht werden. Wie in der Hängematte, konnte man nur mit einem großen Kopfkissen unter dem Körper, einigermaßen gut schlafen. Zum Glück gab es jeweils ein großes und ein kleinen Kopfkissen für Jeden, sonst wäre die Nacht zur völligen Qual geworden.
