Okay, so Appartello Smarttime living Hamburg – I’ll be honest, the name’s a bit of a mouthful, but hear me out on this one. This place totally surprised me in the best way possible. It’s technically a 3-star spot, but honestly? It punches way above its weight class with that 8.5 rating, and after staying there, I completely get why.

The whole concept is basically apartment-style living but with hotel perks, which is perfect if you’re doing more than just a quick weekend trip to Hamburg. You know what I loved most? The kitchenettes actually work – and I mean really work, not those sad hotel attempts with a broken microwave and no proper utensils. I ended up grabbing fresh stuff from the nearby markets (there’s this great little spot just a few blocks away where locals shop) and actually cooked a decent meal. The apartments themselves have this clean, minimalist vibe that feels very… well, very Hamburg actually. Sort of industrial-chic but warm, if that makes sense.

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve nailed the smart living thing – everything’s got this tech-forward feel without being overwhelming. The check-in process was smooth as butter, and the staff genuinely seemed to know Hamburg inside and out. They pointed me toward this incredible coffee roastery that I never would’ve found otherwise, tucked away in a side street that Google Maps probably would’ve missed. The neighborhood itself has that perfect Hamburg energy – you’re close enough to feel connected to the city’s pulse, but it’s not tourist-central chaos. I could hear the gentle hum of city life, but it wasn’t the kind of street noise that keeps you up at night.

Storage space is actually generous (thank god, because I always overpack), and the Wi-Fi is rock solid – crucial if you’re mixing business with pleasure like I was. The cleaning service kept things spotless without being intrusive, and honestly, by day three it felt more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a hotel. One tiny thing – the shower pressure could be a touch stronger, but that’s me being picky. The whole setup just works really well for longer stays or if you want some independence while still having that safety net of hotel services. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself extending your stay just because it feels so comfortable and authentically Hamburg.

  Clean, good sized room and bathroom with a laundry room for guest use downstairs. Friendly staff and convenient for guests travelling by car and not too far from the Alsterdorf metro station
  
  What could be improved: Charging money for things like bottled water and coffee pods seemed a bit stingy considering we were paying nearly €200 per night

  Welcoming receptionist.
  Closeness to the airport and convenient access to the city transport.
  In general, pleasant green area.
  Proximity to a supermarket "Lidl".

  What could be improved: They do not do room service every day. It was announced to me at the reception, so no surprise, however when you have just a few days for rest, you want comfort and cosiness.
  Hand soup did not work in the bathroom.
  The breakfast is very minimalistic.

  It was quite a pleasure to be there. Personal was friendly, the room was clean and big enough for the family. The kitchen was equipped, beds were comfy. Unfortunately, the TV did not work in the main room, bit it certainly was not a problem.

  Very nice place and good location.. Good value for money. The receptionist was very nice..
  It also has a suprisingly decent gym.

  Great location and enjoy being in a home like environment ..
  
  What could be improved: Dishwasher needs attention as its all rusty inside, central temp control was turned off for 3 days, so no fan or air movement or temp control. Last day of the stay even the heat was off.

  clean, location very close to supermarket and bus stop, also close to airport, nice free taxi service from booking.com when we arrived and helpful driver and staffs, AC is a plus in hot summer.
  
  What could be improved: soundproof between apartments/rooms, more privacy is great, tv program should have those without German dubbed for children especially, or should have at least English subtitle

  Room were clean and spacious. It was close to the airport but the surrounding area, especially along the river was very nice. Better value for money than most places in Hamburg.
  
  What could be improved: The room was a little lacking in character but that was expected. Journey into center took a little longer than expected and fairly expensive by taxi. Hamburg is expensive for accommodation overall but this place is better value for money than most.

  Really nice clean, quite. Everything functional. Cared for functional room.
  Friendly staff. Overall pleasant stay and would come back again. They even cared for the Easter and found small goodies.
  
  What could be improved: Would have been nice to have at least one or two pods of coffee at arrival for free. Arriving on a holiday or weekend and all the stores closed leaves you either without a coffee in the morning when the reception is closed or you have to buy the pods.
