Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Base Apartments – it’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be fancy, but honestly, that’s kind of its charm. When I first walked in, my immediate thought was “okay, this feels like someone actually lives here,” which is exactly what you want from an apartment-style stay. The lobby isn’t going to wow anyone with marble floors or dramatic lighting, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. You know what I mean? Sometimes you just want a place that feels real.
The apartments themselves are where this place really delivers on its promise. I mean, you’ve got proper kitchens – not those sad little kitchenettes with a mini-fridge and two burners that barely work. We’re talking full-sized appliances, decent counter space, and cabinets stocked with the basics you’d actually need. The living areas have that lived-in comfort that makes you want to sprawl on the couch with takeout instead of perching awkwardly on hotel furniture. The bedrooms are nothing spectacular, but the beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s actual closet space, which… honestly, why is that so rare these days? Bathrooms are clean and functional – hot water pressure is solid, though the shower could use a refresh. It’s not Instagram-worthy, but it works.
What really sold me on this place is how it handles the little things that matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the apartment, check-in was refreshingly straightforward, and – this might sound weird – but the walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation from next door. I stayed during what seemed like a busy period, and it never felt chaotic or overcrowded. The building has this quiet, residential vibe that makes it easy to settle in. Parking was hassle-free too, which is honestly half the battle these days. Is it perfect? Not really – the furnishing could use some updating, and the whole place has that slightly dated feel of a building that’s been around a while. But there’s something to be said for a place that focuses on being comfortable and functional rather than chasing the latest design trends. For the price point and the 7.4 rating, it delivers exactly what it promises: a decent place to stay that feels more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than camping out in a generic hotel room.
Hamburg hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Speicherstadt warehouse district to elegant harbor-view hotels and modern accommodations near the Elbe River.

What could be improved: Noise from the streetRafaella from Belgium – 21 May 2024 (8/10)
The location is not near from the center but there’s Subway, McDonald’s Donald’s and Burger King beside the apartment. The shower is good. The bed is comfortable. There’s a coffee machine Nespresso and capsules.
What could be improved: I think the place need more illumination.M from Germany – 10 March 2024 (7/10)

Michael from Denmark – 6 November 2023 (6/10)
Great location. Fantastic breakfast. Easy in and out.
What could be improved: AC unit missing heating option. Cold room in November.
Service via whatsapp could not help.Sónia from Portugal – 16 September 2023 (8/10)
Everything was overall very good.
What could be improved: The only thing that was not so good it was a lingering bad smell that was always in the room.Celia from Australia – 6 August 2023 (8/10)
The room was well designed and easy to stay in. I had everything I needed.
What could be improved: I couldn't get the air con to work but didn't ring the helpline. The traffic noise was insane if the window was open, but silent when closed.Philipp from Germany – 9 March 2023 (7/10)
Very nice room and small consumables that were included
What could be improved: Felt like the windows didn’t isolate at all and neither could I find the heat controlVojtech from Czech Republic – 20 February 2023 (7/10)
Function design of the room.
What could be improved: Dark glasses in windows, dark in the room during the day.
No-one to speak about booking extension, carparking etc..Irén from Sweden – 2 August 2022 (7/10)
Comfortable bed (finally a matress that doesn’t move when the person you share bed with do!). Well enough equipped for cooking an easy meal (even if the heat in the hobs were a bit low), great view ower Hamburg. Easy check in. Quiet.
What could be improved: Not enough parking and if you as we did not get one it’s hell finding one on your own. No staff on site, but you could contact 24/7 by phone or mail and they responded fairly quick. Strange with a window between the shower and room. There was nothing really wrong with the place, but it still felt a bit shady and as if it is hard to know who is staying there.
