Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about B&B Hotel Hamburg City-Ost – it’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be fancy, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work. When I first walked into the lobby, I was struck by how clean and straightforward everything felt, you know? No marble columns or chandeliers trying to impress you, just a modern, no-nonsense vibe that says “we’re here to give you a decent place to sleep without breaking the bank.”
The City-Ost location is actually pretty clever if you know Hamburg at all. You’re far enough from the tourist chaos around the Speicherstadt and Reeperbahn to get some peace (and better prices), but the U-Bahn connections mean you can still get anywhere you want to go without much hassle. I mean, Hamburg’s public transport is solid anyway, so being slightly outside the center isn’t the dealbreaker it might be in other cities. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – none of that street noise you’d get if you stayed closer to the Hauptbahnhof area. The rooms are what you’d expect from a modern 3-star chain: compact but thoughtfully designed, with everything you actually need and nothing you don’t. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms are small but functional – good water pressure, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed in the city.
Here’s what really won me over though – the staff actually seem to care about doing their job well. Check-in was smooth, they had local recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps, and when I had a question about getting to a meeting in Altona, the front desk guy drew me a little map showing the fastest route. It’s those small touches that make a difference when you’re traveling, especially for business. The breakfast is decent too – nothing fancy, but good coffee and enough variety to fuel your day without that overpriced hotel markup on everything. Parking was straightforward if you’re driving, though honestly, you probably don’t need a car for most Hamburg adventures. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. I’ve definitely stayed at places with higher star ratings that left me more frustrated than this one did.
Visitors often choose Hamburg apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Hanseatic city.

Great value. Great location – short/cheap train from airport and similar to/from Messe.
Beatrice from Romania – 5 May 2025 (8/10)
The room was clean and the check-in was fast. No check-out formalities. Did not interract much with the staff because we did not need to.
What could be improved: in the room there were 5 big books about how/why to save the planet, and also some brochures in this subject- seems to me that too many trees got cut down to raise awareness on the subject of saving the planet. We have internet for that information.Kevin from United Kingdom – 14 April 2025 (8/10)
Convenient location for travelling. Especially from Airport and Messe events. Staff friendly and breakfast good value.
What could be improved: No tea/coffee facilities in room. Aircon/heating is centrally controlled so had to sleep with window open which is not great near the railway. I was too tired to mind but if I'd been sleeping light then it could have been an issue.Lia from Brazil – 10 February 2025 (9/10)
Everything tidy and clean, well organized, fun ground floor area but very silent in the room
What could be improved: A bit far off the main attractionsConstanza from Chile – 1 February 2025 (8/10)

Eugene from Lithuania – 29 January 2025 (9/10)
The hotel is located close to U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations, but there are almost no food outlets nearby. The room is clean and has all the amenities. Despite the railway line and construction right opposite the window, with the windows closed you can hardly hear any noise. There is also good sound insulation between the rooms and the corridor. Self check-in kiosks and no need to check-out. The staff is friendly. Cleaning almost every day at a convenient time.
What could be improved: The coffee vending machine in the rest area was broken at least for a week. You can't control the AC temperature, the only option is 25°. The creepiest place in the city (August-Bebel-Park) is on the way from the city center to the hotel, try to avoid it, especially at night 😂Christopher from Austria – 27 January 2025 (8/10)
Good location close to a train station, allowing quick access to the nearby CCH
What could be improved: Snack vending machines and one elevator brokenKocak from Sweden – 23 January 2025 (8/10)
Everything was as shown in the pictures and explanation. Room was clean and roomy enough. Quite close to the public transport.
Jan from Czech Republic – 31 October 2024 (8/10)
Easy check-in and -out.
Pretty good breakfast.
Close to U-bahn station.
We had a small issue with a bathroom sink in the evening, and it was fixed immediately.
What could be improved: There could be a warm buffet at breakfast .
The hotel surroundings are a bit noisy.Miroslav from Slovakia – 14 October 2024 (9/10)
Nice and clean room, great breakfast.
What could be improved: Nothing
