Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the B&B Hotel Hamburg-Harburg, I wasn’t expecting much. Harburg isn’t exactly the postcard part of Hamburg that tourists usually gush about, but you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what makes a place worth staying at.

The thing about this hotel is that it gets the basics really, really right. The rooms are clean in that satisfying German way – I mean, you could probably eat off the bathroom floor (though I wouldn’t recommend it). What struck me most was how quiet it was, especially considering you’re still technically in Hamburg. The walls are thick enough that you won’t hear your neighbor’s late-night phone calls, and the beds are firm without being punishing. I actually slept better here than I did at some fancier places in the city center. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too – not just going through the motions, but actually seemed to care that I found my way around. One guy even sketched out a little map showing me the quickest route to catch the S-Bahn into the main part of the city.

Here’s what sold me on the location, though – you’re maybe fifteen minutes by train from all the Hamburg highlights, but you’re paying probably half what you’d spend staying right in St. Pauli or the Altstadt. The S-Bahn connection is honestly pretty seamless once you figure it out, and there’s something nice about coming back to a quieter neighborhood after a day of tourist madness. Plus, if you’re driving, parking here is actually manageable, which anyone who’s tried to park in central Hamburg will tell you is basically a miracle. The breakfast is solid – nothing fancy, but they have proper German bread and decent coffee, which is really all you need to start the day. I mean, you’re not coming here for some elaborate buffet experience, but it’ll fuel you up without breaking the bank. The 7.9 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does everything it promises to do well, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a place to sleep.

  The location is quite far away from the city center and the airport but as S-bahn station is just next to it the commute is quite nice. Breakfasts were great there is a variety of choices and everything is fresh and of good quality. The room is spacious and it was clean, it had all necessary furniture to unpack your luggage and rest.
  
  What could be improved: There is a quite loud road and railway right outside the hotel – maybe offering earplugs would be a great option (or offering them to buy). Other than that I very much liked
