You know what surprised me most about Berner Bude 3? It’s one of those places that actually delivers on what it promises – and honestly, with a 9.3 rating, I went in expecting to find some catch. But this two-bedroom spot really does nail the whole “top connection” thing they’re going for in the name.

The apartment sits in this perfect sweet spot where you can actually get around Bern without planning your entire day around public transport schedules. I mean, you’re talking about being able to walk to the old town in about fifteen minutes if you’re feeling ambitious, or just hop on the tram and be there in half that time. The connection to the main train station is what really sold me though – you can literally get to Zurich or Basel without that whole frantic “did I miss the last good train” panic that usually hits around 8 PM. There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t require a PhD in Swiss transport apps just to grab dinner downtown.

What I really appreciated was how the space feels like an actual home rather than some sterile hotel room with furniture that’s never been sat in. The two bedrooms are genuinely comfortable – not just “comfortable for a hotel” but actually comfortable. The kitchen’s got everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the Migros down the street and cook something real instead of surviving on overpriced room service. And honestly, with Swiss restaurant prices being what they are, having a proper kitchen saves you enough money to make the whole trip feel less brutal on your wallet. The WiFi actually works consistently (I know, revolutionary concept), which matters when you’re trying to figure out weekend train schedules or convince yourself that yes, you really can afford that chocolate shop you walked past three times.

The building itself is quiet enough that you’re not dealing with paper-thin walls and mystery footsteps at 2 AM, but you’re still connected enough to the city that it doesn’t feel like you’re staying in some suburban nowhere zone. Check-in was straightforward – none of that awkward “wait around the lobby for twenty minutes while they find your reservation” dance. It’s the kind of place where everything just sort of works the way you hope it will, which honestly feels pretty rare these days. For a 3-star place, it punches way above its weight class.

  So close to the U-Bahn. Nice and clean. Comfy beds, and a bathtub. Quiet area, easy parking. Just a great place to stay.
