You know what surprised me about the Best Western Plus Hotel St. Raphael? It’s actually got some serious personality for a chain hotel. I mean, when you hear “Best Western,” you’re probably thinking standard roadside stop, but this place punches way above that weight class – there’s a reason it earned four stars and consistently hits that 8.1 rating from guests who’ve actually stayed there.

The moment you walk into the lobby, it hits you that someone really thought about the design here. It’s got this warm, almost boutique-y vibe that doesn’t feel corporate at all. The front desk staff – and I’ve stayed here a few times now – they remember faces, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re traveling constantly. I’m talking quality linens (not those scratchy hotel sheets you dread), blackout curtains that actually block light if you’re trying to sleep in, and bathrooms with decent water pressure – you’d be amazed how many places mess that up. The AC units are quiet too, which matters more than people realize until they’re stuck with one that sounds like a freight train all night.

What really sells me on this place is the attention to those little details that show they get what business travelers and families actually need. There are plenty of outlets by the bed (thank god), the WiFi doesn’t crawl to a halt when everyone’s streaming Netflix, and the breakfast situation is solid – not just stale pastries and watery coffee, but actual food that’ll fuel you for the day. Parking’s never been an issue when I’ve been there, even during busier periods, and the location puts you close enough to local spots without dealing with downtown traffic headaches. It’s one of those places where you can tell the management actually stays in hotels themselves and knows what’s annoying versus what matters. Sure, it’s not the flashiest place you’ll ever stay, but it’s reliable in all the ways that count, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  Breakfast was plentiful. Kids love the "make your waffle" station.
  The staff is very helpful. The fridge in our room wasn't functioning. reported it and it was replaced immediately.
  Since we had a room not facing the street, it was also quiet.
  Very good experience!
  
  What could be improved: The walk from the station is not very pleasant, I would recommend taking the U-Bahn to the station "Berliner Tor" and then walking from this station to the hotel. The distance is the same as from HBF but the road seems cleaner and safer.

  Comfort plus room was quiet big and comfortable. The front desk personnel was so sweet she gave us a room upgrade!🙂

  Central location. Very clean.
  Breakfast choices were incredible!
  Staff were exceptional – nothing too much for them. Attentive waiting at breakfast and bar staff accommodating.
  
  What could be improved: The neighbourhood is a bit intimidating at night, so close to main railway station.

  The property was in close proximity to the train station and a 10 minute walk into the main part of town. The staff were polite and friendly. Very much enjoyed the biscuits provided upon leaving and was a nice gift. The breakfast had all the usual items and enough for all types of diets.
