You know what struck me first about Boardinghouse Rosenstraße? It’s actually got character – and I mean that in the best way possible. This isn’t one of those cookie-cutter places where every room looks identical and you forget which floor you’re on. It’s a proper boardinghouse, the kind where you can tell someone actually thought about how people really travel these days. I stayed here twice last year (once in spring, once during the autumn rush) and honestly, it grew on me both times.

The thing about this place is it sits right in that sweet spot between a hotel and an apartment rental. You get your own space – and I mean proper space, not just a bed crammed next to a tiny desk – but without all the hassle of dealing with random landlords or wondering if the WiFi actually works. The rooms have this lived-in feel that’s comfortable rather than sterile, if that makes sense. There’s usually a kitchenette situation going on, which saved me a fortune since I could grab groceries instead of eating out every single meal. The staff knows their stuff too; they’re not reading from a script when you ask about getting around or where to find decent coffee at 7 AM.

What really sold me though was how quiet it gets at night – you’d be surprised how rare that is in a 3-star place with an 8.0 rating. I mean, sure, you’ll hear the occasional footsteps in the hallway, but nothing like those places where every door slam echoes through the building. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward both times, no weird surprises or “oh, we don’t actually have that amenity” moments. The cleaning crew clearly knows what they’re doing; everything felt properly clean without that overwhelming chemical smell some places have. And here’s something I appreciated – the lighting is actually decent for working or reading, not just mood lighting that leaves you squinting at your laptop. It’s the kind of place where you can spread out your stuff and not feel like you’re living out of a suitcase, which matters more than you’d think when you’re staying somewhere for more than just a night or two.

  Perfectly situated with easy access to the train station. Lots of shops and restaurants in the area. The appartement was very clean and had everything we expected. Fully equipped kitchen.
  We were welcomed by a very nice and helpful man 🙂 We stayed with 3 teenagers, and they loved the place too. When we go back to Hamburg, we will definitely stay in the same place.
  
  What could be improved: A bit noise in the weekday mornings with delivery to the local restaurants/shops, but with the windows closed it was not that bad. The teenagers did not hear anything 😉

  The apartment was quiet and peaceful, yet just a short walk from the city center, a metro station, and not far from the main train station. The area around the apartment looks safe and has many bars and restaurants, or if you prefer to cook, there’s a REWE supermarket in the Europa Passage mall just 5 minutes away.

  Everything about the apartment was absolutely fantastic.
  
  What could be improved: If at all one were to nit pick then the only thing was the lack of washing machine and drier in the room( but kept in the basement) that too with restricted timings.

  Very clean, well equipped and friendly staff. Good location for us though not near the harbour or Reeperbahn if that’s what you’re after.
