Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Chez-Ronny, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But sometimes you stumble onto something that just gets everything right, you know? This little gem has that rare quality where the staff actually seems to care about what they’re doing, and it shows in every interaction. The front desk folks remember your name after the first day, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re dragging yourself back after a long day of sightseeing.

What really won me over was how they handle the details that other places overlook. The rooms aren’t huge – I mean, it’s not a luxury resort – but they’re thoughtfully laid out in a way that makes the space work. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), and the shower pressure is actually decent, which honestly can make or break a stay for me. You know what’s interesting? The cleaning staff must have some kind of system down because I never once came back to find housekeeping still working on my floor, even when I’d pop back at weird hours. The whole place just runs smoothly without that frantic hotel energy you get at some spots.

I think what pushes this place into special territory is that it feels like someone’s paying attention to the guest experience without making a big show of it. The 9.5 rating isn’t just people being generous – there’s something genuinely satisfying about staying somewhere that consistently delivers on the basics while throwing in those little unexpected touches. The coffee in the lobby is actually good (not that burnt hotel lobby stuff), and they keep it going later into the evening than most places bother with. Even the WiFi works properly throughout the building, which shouldn’t be remarkable in 2024 but somehow still is. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself recommending it to people not because it’s flashy, but because you know they’ll have a good, hassle-free stay and probably end up as pleasantly surprised as you were.

  Ronny is a super host. Room was big. Everything was there. Location could not be better. Ronny owns as well a bar arrondissement the corner which is a great place to go.

  Location. Friendliness of Ronny. Proximity to public transport. Room was a small double but had everything we needed and we spent very little time in it anyway. Too busy having a good time! Nice and quiet for a good night's sleep. The pub and the cafe Ronny recommended were both excellent.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing. Would stay there again if we were lucky enough to get a room there. It's got a very high occupancy rate.

  Ronny and all the people working there were very friendly. I like that there is a breakfast discount for a bakery nearby and the breakfast was quite good. Nice touches like various lights in the room, stereo, TV etc. Even some chocolate on the bed table which shows attention to details. Bed was super comfortable and the place was perfectly located and very quiet. All in all, very nice! Thanks Ronny!
  
  What could be improved: Smell a bit of smoke, but so does the whole neighborhood of St. Pauli. Else, nothing.

  Outstanding character and charm, super nice management, large comfortable room, very convenient to transit (subway entrance literally in front of the building) and the riverfront. Will book again! We particularly appreciated the disco showerhead and the lovely little inner balcony space in our room.
  
  What could be improved: We both are in street-vulnerable demographics and we felt perfectly safe by day or night walking around in the neighborhood, but strangers to Hamburg may like to be aware in advance that there are some risqué establishments nearby.
