Chez-Ronny Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Chez-Ronny on the infamous Reeperbahn, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this three-star spot. The location is right in the thick of Hamburg‘s most notorious entertainment district, but you know what? The place has this surprisingly welcoming vibe that cuts through all the neon chaos outside. It’s one of those hotels that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — just solid, comfortable, and perfectly positioned for exploring St. Pauli’s wild side.

The Heart of St. Pauli

Being smack in the middle of the Reeperbahn means you’re literally steps away from everything that makes this neighborhood legendary. I mean, the Beatles cut their teeth in clubs just down the street, and that energy is still palpable when you step outside. What surprised me though is how couples seem to gravitate toward this area — apparently they rate the location incredibly highly, which makes sense once you realize it’s not just about the nightlife. The harbor’s close by, there are some fantastic local eateries tucked between the tourist traps, and getting around Hamburg from here is actually pretty straightforward.

The Room Experience

Here’s where Chez-Ronny really delivers — the beds are genuinely comfortable, and I’m someone who usually tosses and turns in hotel beds. The room itself won’t win any design awards, but everything works exactly as it should. The windows do a decent job of keeping the street noise manageable (which is saying something given where you are), and there’s enough space to spread out without feeling cramped. It’s that sweet spot between basic and actually pleasant that three-star places should hit but often miss.

Practical Perks

One thing that caught me off guard was the parking situation — they actually have private spots available on-site, which is kind of a miracle in this part of town. If you’re driving into Hamburg, you’ll appreciate not having to hunt for street parking or deal with expensive public garages. The staff seems to know their neighborhood inside and out too, so they’re good for recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. They pointed me toward a local restaurant that I never would have found otherwise — one of those places where locals actually eat.

Why Guests Love It

What really works about this place is how it embraces its location without trying to compete with the flashier hotels in Hamburg’s city center. You’re getting authentic St. Pauli energy with a comfortable base to retreat to when the neighborhood gets overwhelming (and it will). The combination of those surprisingly good beds, the prime location, and the straightforward approach to hospitality creates something that feels genuine. It’s not trying to be boutique — it’s just doing the fundamentals really well in one of Hamburg’s most character-filled neighborhoods.

Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Hamburg through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city’s rich maritime heritage.

Reviews of Chez-Ronny

  • Nicole from Germany – 13 February 2025 (10/10)

The apartment and location is amazing. We loved every minute of our stay. Thanks Ronny

    What could be improved: N/A

  • Paul from Netherlands – 5 January 2025 (8/10)

Ronny is a super host. Room was big. Everything was there. Location could not be better. Ronny owns as well a bar arrondissement the corner which is a great place to go.

What could be improved: Beds had a bit of a hole in the middle. The shower was a bit blocked, which made it a bit hard to shower decent

  • Patrick from Netherlands – 5 January 2025 (9/10)

Spaciousness. Location (nearby metro & good restaurants). We would defenity return any time.

What could be improved: Pillows of the beds. No adequate breakfast- crockery. No wine glasses.

  • Christine from Ireland – 19 December 2024 (9/10)

Location. Friendliness of Ronny. Proximity to public transport. Room was a small double but had everything we needed and we spent very little time in it anyway. Too busy having a good time! Nice and quiet for a good night's sleep. The pub and the cafe Ronny recommended were both excellent.

What could be improved: Nothing. Would stay there again if we were lucky enough to get a room there. It's got a very high occupancy rate.

  • Eleonora from Denmark – 2 December 2024 (8/10)

Ronny and all the people working there were very friendly. I like that there is a breakfast discount for a bakery nearby and the breakfast was quite good. Nice touches like various lights in the room, stereo, TV etc. Even some chocolate on the bed table which shows attention to details. Bed was super comfortable and the place was perfectly located and very quiet. All in all, very nice! Thanks Ronny!

What could be improved: Smell a bit of smoke, but so does the whole neighborhood of St. Pauli. Else, nothing.

  • Danie from Australia – 26 October 2024 (9/10)

Amazing apartment close to everything we wanted to do

What could be improved: The street was a more in your face red light district which may not suit all travellers.

  • Lisa from Germany – 24 October 2024 (10/10)

Outstanding character and charm, super nice management, large comfortable room, very convenient to transit (subway entrance literally in front of the building) and the riverfront. Will book again! We particularly appreciated the disco showerhead and the lovely little inner balcony space in our room.

What could be improved: We both are in street-vulnerable demographics and we felt perfectly safe by day or night walking around in the neighborhood, but strangers to Hamburg may like to be aware in advance that there are some risqué establishments nearby.

  • Lorraine from United Kingdom – 7 October 2024 (10/10)

We loved the fabulously decorated flat, the atmosphere in the bar and the friendly helpful people!

  • Mark from Netherlands – 7 October 2024 (9/10)

Ronny was very friendly and helpful, and the room was as on the site, with a style of it's own.

  • Tim from Australia – 3 October 2024 (10/10)

    Amazing unique beautiful fun guesthouse

    What could be improved: Nothing
