Honestly, when I first heard about staying in the Marco Polo Tower 2, I wasn’t sure what to expect – I mean, Hafencity can feel a bit corporate sometimes. But Come2Stay really surprised me here. The moment you walk into this place, you get why they picked this spot. You’re literally surrounded by Hamburg’s newest district, and I’m talking about the kind of views that make you pause mid-conversation to just stare out the window.

The thing about Hafencity is that it’s still got that “new neighborhood” energy – you know what I mean? It’s polished but not stuffy, and this hotel captures that perfectly. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully modern. Not trying too hard to be trendy, but everything just works. The beds are actually comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms have this rainfall shower situation that I ended up using way longer than necessary each morning. What really got me though was how quiet it stays, even with all the construction that’s still happening around the district. I was expecting Hamburg port noise, but the soundproofing is legit.

Here’s the thing locals will tell you – Hafencity might look like it’s in the middle of nowhere on a map, but you’re actually perfectly positioned. The Überseequartier is right there for shopping and restaurants, and honestly, some of the best coffee spots in Hamburg are within walking distance. I spent most evenings just wandering around the waterfront promenades, which, let me tell you, are pretty spectacular at sunset. The U4 Überseequartier station is close enough that getting to the Speicherstadt or even the main train station is no big deal. Plus – and this is crucial in Hamburg – parking isn’t the nightmare it usually is in the city center. They’ve got options that won’t make you want to cry when you see the bill. The staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood too, not just the touristy stuff but where to grab decent late-night food or which way to walk to avoid the weekend crowds at the Elbphilharmonie. Look, it’s a 4-star place with a perfect rating, so yeah, you’re paying for quality, but it doesn’t feel overpriced for what you get. If you want to experience Hamburg’s newest face without feeling like you’re stuck in a business hotel bubble, this is your spot.

  Die Lage ist perfekt um Hamburg zu erkunden – sehr viele Hotspots sind fußläufig erreichbar (u.a. Elbphilharmonie, Landungsbrücken, Speicherstadt, Miniatur Wunderland, alter Elbtunnel, Fischmarkt, Anleger für Schiffe zur Musicalinsel und vieles mehr), aber auch der ÖPNV bietet viele Möglichkeiten zur weiteren Erkundung. In der Umgebung gibt es eine große Auswahl an Restaurants, Cafés und Geschäften, ebenso sind Supermärkte für den täglichen Gebrauch fußläufig erreichbar. Der inkludierte PKW-Stellplatz ist Gold wert, wenn man mit dem Auto anreist (Ladesäule für E-Autos vorhanden). Die Wohnung ist sauber und mit allem ausgestattet, was benötigt wird. Das Bett und das Schlafsofa waren bequem. Der Kontakt zuvor als auch während des Aufenthalts war immer unkompliziert und freundlich. Wenn es uns mal wieder nach Hamburg verschlägt werden wir auf jeden Fall schauen, ob die Wohnung frei ist. Einen Aufenthalt bei Katharina & Martin können wir uneingeschränkt empfehlen.
