Cosy 2 room apartment in Hamburg Hammerbrook

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Hammerbrook” on the booking site, I had to look it up. It’s not exactly the Hamburg neighborhood that pops up in guidebooks, you know? But honestly, that turned out to be part of the charm. This cozy two-room setup sits right in what locals call the “new business district,” which sounds fancy but really just means you’re surrounded by modern office buildings and surprisingly good lunch spots that the working crowd keeps busy during weekdays.

The apartment itself is exactly what it says on the tin – cozy, definitely lived-in feeling, and refreshingly unpretentious for a 3-star place. I mean, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or Egyptian cotton sheets, but the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s enough space in the living area to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The kitchen’s small but functional – I managed to make decent coffee in the mornings, which is really all I need to start the day. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Sure, you’ll hear some trams during the day since you’re pretty close to the Hammerbrook station, but evenings are surprisingly peaceful once the office workers head home.

Getting around from here is actually easier than staying in some of the touristy areas – the S-Bahn connections are solid, and you can reach the Speicherstadt or Altstadt in about fifteen minutes without dealing with the crowds right outside your door. There’s this little Vietnamese place called Saigon Corner just a few blocks away that absolutely nobody talks about online, but the pho is incredible and costs half what you’d pay near the harbor. The rating of 7.5 feels about right – it’s not going to wow you with luxury touches, but everything works, it’s clean, and the price point makes sense for what you get. I’d definitely consider staying here again, especially if I was in Hamburg for more than just the typical tourist circuit. Sometimes you want a place that feels more like temporarily living somewhere rather than just visiting, and this little apartment nails that vibe perfectly.

  Availability of parking, high speed internet and plenty of cupboards.
  
  What could be improved: 1.The beds and pillows are very uncomfortable.
  2.There was no washing machine and no AC.
  3.There was no kitchen basics (salt, coffee, tea, etc)
  4.There was not enough toilet/tissue papers and no detergents, also not enough towels.
  5.The fact that it is located in an industrial compound, feels isolated and does not provide sense of safety.
  6.No fly screen: we saw cockroaches and ants.

  Nothing, it is UNSAFE apartment and area, do not go there.. it is like Ghost apartment, very bad communications with the host, we booked as a family for 4 days, fully paid, we arrived late and hardly slept, my daughters were very scared and feeling unsafe because their room was connected to the outside with glass door.. then, we left the apartment the next morning and spoke to Booking.com to complain but they ignored our calls and their calls.. was very bad experience…

  NOTHING!!! WE COULDN'T STAY THERE! WE HAD 2 KIDS WITH US AND THEY WERE AFRAID OF RATS!

  What could be improved: Together with my friend and 2 kids we departed for our Wonderland adventure – we dreamed about nice family space, where You could spend time together.
  But this place, was nothing like expected – felt we couldn’t stay there – literally BEHIND THE BARS!
  Rat traps, trash everywhere. Man, who helped us find the garage (called “the apartment”) told us, that nobody ever stayed there and that they lock the gate after 6pm while leaving for the weekend. It was impossible to contact HOMARIS – we just got a text massage but with no possibility to call them back.
  Knowing the above with 2 kids we simply run away – to the family room in Novotel for 394 Euro.
  It says the apartment is "cosy" – You can see the cosines in the pictures I took. It also says that the apartment is 80 m2 – which is unfortunately another lie.
  It’s and industrial zone, and you will stay in the workshop of some kind with the risk of not being able to leave after 6 pm.
  Neither Homaris nor Booking felt responsible for the situation – we didn’t get a refund.

  What could be improved: schlechte Beschreibung, wo geparkt werden kann und wie man die Wohnung genau erreicht (der Eingang nicht nicht so einfach zu finden). die Wohnung sah etwas anders aus als auf den Fotos (Sitzkissen auf der Bank fehlten beispielsweise). Außerdem fehlt in der Küche ein Pfannenwender.

  Apartments ist in einem Industriegebiet und in einem Lagergebäude. Daher war es dementsprechend überraschend urban. Es schien so, als wurde nachts dort gearbeitet.
