Das Nest Boardinghouse Hamburg Niendorf Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Das Nest Boardinghouse Hamburg Niendorf, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t your typical hotel. It’s more like a well-designed residential building where you happen to be staying — which, honestly, is exactly what makes it work so well. The three-star property sits quietly on Emmy-Beckmann-Weg, and there’s something refreshingly understated about the whole setup. You know what I mean? No grand lobby theatrics, just clean lines and that distinctly German approach to functional design.
The Niendorf Advantage
Here’s the thing about staying in Niendorf — you’re getting the best of both worlds without the tourist chaos. This neighborhood feels authentically local, with tree-lined streets and that suburban Hamburg vibe that couples absolutely love (and the 8.7 location rating from pairs proves it). You’re actually close enough to hop on public transport and reach the city center, but far enough out that you can grab groceries at the local shops and feel like you’re living here rather than just passing through. The area around the boardinghouse has this quiet residential charm that makes evening walks genuinely pleasant.
Your Space
The room setup here is what really sets Das Nest apart from standard hotels. Each unit feels more like a temporary apartment than a hotel room — you get proper living space with a functional kitchenette that’s actually useful for more than just making coffee. I mean, you can prepare real meals if you want to, which is perfect when you’re staying for more than just a night or two. The furnishings are modern without being cold, and there’s enough storage space that you can actually unpack and settle in properly.
Practical Perks
One thing that immediately impressed me was the free private parking right on site — and if you’ve ever tried to park in Hamburg, you’ll know this is basically gold. No circling blocks looking for a spot, no feeding meters every few hours. The whole property just runs smoothly in that efficient German way, where everything works as it should without any fuss. The staff keeps things professional but friendly, and there’s a genuine helpfulness that doesn’t feel scripted.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes Das Nest special is how it nails that sweet spot between independence and service. You get the freedom of having your own space — complete with cooking facilities and room to spread out — but with the reliability and cleanliness standards of a well-run hotel. Recent guests consistently rate the location highly (8.9 out of 10), and honestly, once you experience how peaceful Niendorf is while still being connected to everything Hamburg offers, you’ll understand why. It’s particularly brilliant for couples who want to experience the city like locals rather than tourists, with a proper base to return to each evening.
Hotels in Hamburg offer guests the perfect blend of maritime charm and modern comfort, with many featuring harbor cruise concierge services and traditional fish market experiences to enhance the authentic Hanseatic cultural experience.

Nice simple place, fully equipped with everything.
Walking distance to rail way station.
Walking distance to ATM and REWE supermarket.Scotia from United Kingdom – 24 August 2024 (9/10)
We stayed in Flat 11 (of 12), on the top floor. It was a spacious studio flat with separate bathroom & hallway. Very clean, well appointed with plenty of storage space and enough cookware to prepare basic meals. Less than 5 minutes walk to the U-Bahn and with a local 'express' supermarket too by the station. We arrived late (22:30) but this was not a problem, the keys had been left in a safe outside with instructions sent by SMS earlier that day. Despite the negative comments below, we'd difinately stay again!
What could be improved: Communication was lacking. This is a bit disconcerting when a EUR100 deposit is requested by PayPal and then the balance in cash on arrival. Das Nest does not accept card payments! It did feel like a scam but many other guests also reported the same with their reviews appearing genuine, not faked or 'bot' written.Brian from Ireland – 14 May 2024 (9/10)
Excellent location. Very quiet. Beside underground train station. Beside Airport bus stop. Modern and very clean. Nice sunny balcony.
Radu from Germany – 12 May 2024 (9/10)
Nicely located, close to the u-bahn station, spatious and clean. All you need within the kitchen, appliances including. Very friendly stuff.

Anonymous from Germany – 10 November 2023 (8/10)
Good location, U-bahn and REWE were near to this property.
What could be improved: Weak WiFi internet in third floor of unit 11Aneta from Ireland – 19 September 2023 (9/10)
Very good location close to Rewe shop & metro station which was essential for me and my family
What could be improved: No complaintsJean from Australia – 12 September 2023 (7/10)
Comfortable and clean. Nice facilities and homely.
What could be improved: Some tea and coffee would’ve been nice – the kitchen had no supplies.
Soap/shampoo was a bit sparse.
Communication with the host wasn’t great. We had to do all the chasing regarding arrangements to gain access. The number provided in their initial “welcome” message didn’t answer. They didn’t acknowledge any correspondence via the Booking.com portal. They sent one message asking for the deposit via PayPal and didn’t acknowledge receipt and didn’t reply when we advised of a plane delay and sought alternative check-in arrangements.
Cash only seemed a bit dodgy too.Ivan from Ukraine – 13 July 2023 (9/10)
Location, value for money, interior, in general everything was very nice
Adriana from Germany – 20 May 2022 (8/10)
Location is perfect, close to subway and supermarket and restaurants
Well sized room with all equipment you need
What could be improved: Be mindful of the stairs
Check in and check out are very informal, some people might feel insecure about that
Weird service, very few words and only German
