The name literally translates to “Old School apartment,” and honestly, that’s exactly what it feels like – but in the best possible way. This place sits right at Saseler Markt, which is this charming little neighborhood square that most tourists never stumble across, and I mean that’s actually part of its appeal. You’re staying in what feels like real Hamburg, not some sanitized hotel district.

The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious for a 3-star place – two proper bedrooms and two full bathrooms, which is honestly a game-changer if you’re traveling with friends or family. I was expecting typical German efficiency (read: compact), but the layout actually flows really well. The renovation work is solid quality stuff, not the cheap fixtures you sometimes get in vacation rentals. The kitchen has everything you’d actually want to use, and the bathrooms – well, let’s just say they’re nicer than what I have at home. There’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that clearly had thought put into the details, like proper shower pressure and windows that actually open wide enough to get some air circulation going.

What really sells this place though is the location situation. Saseler Markt isn’t flashy, but it’s got this lived-in neighborhood vibe that makes you feel less like a tourist and more like you’re crashing at a friend’s place. There’s a decent bakery basically across the street (the pretzels are legit), and you can walk to the U-Bahn pretty easily when you want to head into the city center. Parking isn’t a nightmare either, which – if you’ve ever tried to park in Hamburg – you know is worth mentioning. The 8.3 rating makes total sense to me; it’s not trying to be a luxury experience, but it delivers on what it promises without any nasty surprises. I’d definitely consider staying here again, especially if I wanted to explore Hamburg from somewhere that felt more authentic than the typical hotel strip near the Hauptbahnhof.

  What could be improved: Die Zimmertür 22 ist nicht nummeriert, das sorgt zunächst bei Ankunft für Verwirrung. Es gibt nur einen Schlüssel.

  Die Lage war hervorragend. Haltestellen waren schnell zu erreichen. Parkmöglichkeit vor dem Haus kostenlos vorhanden. Das WLan funktionierte nicht gleich, sollte aber nach einem Anruf sofort von einem Techniker kontrolliert werden. War aber nicht mehr nötig. Der Service also super! Und die Küche war gut sortiert ausgestattet!
  
  What could be improved: Im Urlaub ist alles anders. Das Bad war ein wenig eng, dafür aber der Duschraum phänomenal. Mir fehlte allerdings ein wenig Abstellfläche. In der Dusche, wie auch im Bad. Für die paar Tage aber ausreichend. Da ich schon etwas älter bin, war die Matratze für mich nicht rückenfreundlich.
