This three-star property sits right in the heart of Blankenese, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has this understated charm that fits perfectly with the neighborhood’s maritime character, though it’s not trying too hard to be quaint or overly themed.

Here’s what I love about staying in Blankenese — it’s like being in a completely different world while still being in Hamburg. You’re perched on the Elbe hillside with all these winding streets and traditional fishermen’s houses around you. From Fischerhaus, you can actually walk down to the Elbe beach (yes, Hamburg has beaches!) in about ten minutes, which most visitors don’t even know exists. The Blankenese steps — those famous wooden stairs leading down to the water — are practically on your doorstep, and trust me, the sunset views from there are something else.

Your Room and Comfort

The rooms here strike that sweet spot between comfortable and unpretentious. Each room feels thoughtfully put together without being fussy — clean lines, decent space, and windows that actually let in proper light. What impressed me most was the attention to small details: good reading lights, enough outlets where you need them, and bathrooms that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the soundproofing is better than you’d expect for a building in this area.

Local Connections

The staff here really know their neighborhood, which makes a huge difference when you’re trying to figure out where to eat or what to see. They pointed me toward this little fish restaurant down by the harbor that I never would have found on my own — the kind of place where locals actually go for Sunday lunch. Parking can be tricky in Blankenese (those narrow, hilly streets weren’t designed for cars), but the hotel sorts this out for you, which removes one major headache from the equation.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.6 rating isn’t just numbers — it reflects something real about this place. Couples especially seem to connect with Fischerhaus, and I get why. There’s something romantic about Blankenese itself, with its village-like atmosphere and water views, but the hotel doesn’t oversell it or turn it into a cliché. You’re close enough to central Hamburg (the S-Bahn gets you there in about 20 minutes) but far enough away to feel like you’re experiencing a different side of the city. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night because leaving feels premature — and honestly, that’s probably the best recommendation I can give any hotel.

  Vielleicht ist die kleine Küche etwas eng,
  dass war uns allerdings bereits durch die vorhandenen Bilder klar. Es hat uns nicht gestört, war kuschelig.
  Im Sommer ist es sowieso kein Problem, da kann man wunderbar auf der tollen Terrasse zusammen sitzen.

  Anlässlich des 60. Geburtstag unserer Freundin haben wir hier ein wunderschönes Wochenende verbracht. Die Wohnung ist gespickt mit so vielen lieben, kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten und Accessoires, die Nähe zur Elbe, das ganze Ambiente hat den Aufenthalt unvergesslich gemacht. Die Vermieter waren extrem freundlich und hilfsbereit… sehr gerne kommen wir wieder und können diese Unterkunft nur wärmsten empfehlen.

  Very charming upstairs of an older house, renovated with care and very tastefully. The space is small and cozy, with optimal use of the space. It is very inviting with great attention to detail. A wonderful retreat. Not recommended for someone looking for lots of space.
  
  What could be improved: A little bit expensive for the amount of space available. The second bed is on a mezzanine accessible by ladder, so not necessarily good for an older person, or anyone expecting to get up in the night.
