I mean, you can walk to the Reeperbahn in about fifteen minutes, but you’re far enough away that you won’t deal with the chaos unless you want to. The couples who rate this area so highly — and they really do, giving it a 9.0 — aren’t wrong about the romantic appeal of wandering these tree-lined streets.

The Room

The room design strikes this perfect balance between quirky and comfortable. They’ve embraced the pajama theme without going overboard — think playful touches rather than full-on gimmick territory. The beds are genuinely comfortable (which matters more than cute decor when you’re actually trying to sleep), and the bathrooms are modern without being sterile. While Fritz doesn’t have its own restaurant, that’s actually a blessing in disguise here. The Sternschanze area is packed with incredible local spots that you’d never discover if you were stuck eating hotel food. There’s this fantastic Vietnamese place just two blocks away, and the weekend farmers market on Schulterblatt brings in some of the best regional produce and prepared foods. The hotel staff — and they’re genuinely helpful, not just going through the motions — can point you toward whatever you’re craving, whether it’s proper German breakfast or late-night döner.

  Great location, very close to the subway and bus station. Large and comfortable room. Very friendly and helpful staff.Coffee and tea available in the room were my salvation, considering I was leaving early to attend a conference. Kind and helpful staff!!!
  
  What could be improved: In the bathroom there is a bathtub, a little uncomfortable. The room was cold on arrival, but it was enough to turn on the heater to have a nice warmth

  The rooms in the hotel seems to be all different. We had the one with mezzanine. It was a very warm day but the temperature in the room was very ok. Also very quiet at night because the windows were facing an inner courtyard. Nicely decorated room and hotel overall. Very kind and helpful staff, swift reply to different questions before our stay. I also really liked the surroundings.
  
  What could be improved: The beds – both the one downstairs and the ones on the mezzanine – were too hard for our taste. Hotel a bit expensive.

  The location is perfect, in the heart of lively Sternschanze, plenty of cafés and restaurants, 2min from the S-Bahn/U-Bahn Station. Very elegant, cozy style. Our was very clean, spacious, quiet (window on the backyard). Dog-friendly. Staff very friendly and always ready to assist. Highly recommended!
  
  What could be improved: The squeaky doors and the bed could be better mantained.

  Amazing location, the best area in Hamburg! It was not loud in the 3 nights we stayed. Everything was very comfortable!

  We liked the ease of check in, size of the room was very decent, the hotel has an art deco vibe which is really cool and near to amazing cafes and bars w/o the bustling from St pauli.
  
  What could be improved: In of of the corridors there was a cigarette smell, but apart from that all was good.

  The location is great and the price, for Hamburg, is pretty reasonable. It has a nice vibe.
  
  What could be improved: When we lost our key (that part is on us) it took 3h and two trips to another location to get the correct replacement, and then at the checkout we got charged 50 euros for it. They said they normally charge 90. It was a basic key with a generic label that we could have copied on the corner for €5. So guess the lesson is, if you lose one, copy your replacement before checkout?

  Fritz in Pyjama shows how boutique hotels can be accessible. It's a low budget stay with some extra perks. The focus in detail, from the naming of the rooms, until the toiletries they use, all is very thought through. Very friendly staff who goes above and beyond, and I appreciated a kettle in the room.
  
  What could be improved: The hotel can get stuffy in summer. The check-in is very late, and there's almost no space at the reception in case you'd like to leave your luggage, so bear this in mind. The check-in as at 4pm, and the reception closes at 5pm, which pretty much doesn't leave you much choice, and your flexibility is limited.
  The vicinity of S-Bahn line makes it a little noisier, but they provide you with ear plugs, which definitely helps.
