You know what really struck me about this place? The location feedback wasn’t kidding when it mentioned couples love it here. There’s something genuinely romantic about wandering these narrow streets together, especially in the evening when the old merchant houses are lit up. The Speicherstadt is practically on your doorstep — you can walk to those iconic red-brick warehouses in about ten minutes. And if you’re into the nightlife scene, the Reeperbahn is close enough for a night out but far enough that you won’t hear the party from your window.

The Apartment Experience

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel room. There’s a proper kitchen where you can actually cook — and trust me, you’ll want to after visiting the nearby Großneumarkt farmers market on Saturdays. The space has this lived-in quality that I actually prefer to sterile hotel rooms. Sure, it’s unpretentious, but everything works, it’s clean, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped.

Getting Around and Daily Life

What I love about staying here is how easy it is to slip into Hamburg’s rhythm. The Rathaus is literally a five-minute walk away, and you’ll find yourself cutting through the Rathaus square almost daily — it becomes your personal shortcut to everywhere else. The U-Bahn connections are solid too; Rödingsmarkt station gets you anywhere in the city without much fuss. And there’s decent parking nearby if you’re driving, though honestly, you probably won’t need your car much once you’re settled in.

I’ve stayed in other places in Hamburg that felt disconnected from the city’s soul, but this spot puts you right in the middle of everything that makes Hamburg special.   What could be improved: A deposit of 150 euros *must* be clearly mentioned in the listing under "The Fine Print"! It’s unacceptable to surprise customers with this requirement after they’ve booked a non-refundable reservation. When I received the deposit request, I wanted to cancel, but my booking was non-refundable.
  
  The check-out time is 10 AM, and check-in is at 4 PM. In my 15 years of booking hotels and apartments worldwide, I’ve never encountered such an early check-out time. Additionally, they don’t offer the option to pay extra for a late check-out if 24 hours have passed since the check-out time. This lack of flexibility is frustrating. To make matters worse, they even call you at 10 AM to confirm if you’ve checked out, which feels intrusive and unfriendly.
  
  The kitchen lacks basic essentials like salt, and the bathroom was missing shower gel and shampoo – the dispensers were empty.

  The apartment itself is great. Big TV in front of sofa is a plus. Comfortable beds. Location is great.
  
  What could be improved: While the full sum for the rent was paid via booking, the host asked for the 150 euro deposit that could be paid only via credit card. I never had a credit card, only debit ones from different banks, and none of them couldn’t be processed for this deposit. Our move in date was approaching, and the only reaction from the host was like “it is your problem that you do not have the credit card. If the deposit is not paid, you will not move in”. So, I had to call my friends and ask who can help me with this. Never had such hassle before, especially given that I paid everything via booking.
  
  The next frustration was when we moved in, the apartment was in horrible shape. The cleaning was not done. Beds were in mess, the filth was everywhere, lots of dirty things that remained after the previous guests. Had to call to the booking, so that they could fix the situation with the host. After some debated, the host sent the cleaner, so that we were able to finally move in at 8pm (initially we came at 4pm, so the evening was ruined).
  
  Overall, the apartment is great, but the service is awful.
