It’s got that perfect sweet spot vibe – fancy enough that you feel a bit sophisticated walking through the lobby, but not so stuffy that you’re worried about your sneakers on the marble floors. The 4-star rating actually feels earned here, which honestly isn’t always the case these days. I mean, the 8.1 guest rating tells you something right there – people genuinely like staying here, and after spending a few nights, I totally get why.

The thing about this place is it feels like it has stories to tell. You can sense the history in the way the hallways curve slightly, and there’s this wonderful old-world charm mixed with updates that actually make sense (thank god for proper shower pressure and decent wifi). The rooms have character without being cramped, and I appreciated little touches like the thick curtains that actually block out street noise – you’d be surprised how many places skimp on that detail. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing too, which makes such a difference when you’re trying to figure out local transportation or where to grab a proper breakfast that won’t cost you a fortune.

What really won me over was how the hotel sits in the neighborhood – it’s not isolated in some tourist bubble, but it’s also not thrown into chaos every night. You can walk to real local spots without hiking for miles, and there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that locals might actually recommend to their visiting relatives. The building itself has this solid, reliable feel to it, like it’s been hosting travelers for decades and has figured out how to do it right. Sometimes you just want a place that nails the basics really well – comfortable beds, hot showers, helpful staff, and that indefinable feeling that you picked well.   Compact room with one single bed. But just enough for a solo traveler. Bed was comfortable. The room was well organized and well equipped for its size.

  The place is very well located, near the subway and at a walkable distance from the Haupbanhof. The hotel has a bar at the entrance with a nice ambience. The room has a good size, it even has a desk which is very nice for working. The bathroom is comfortable and the shower works quite well. It is very clean. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The only downside is that the halls can be a bit noisy and you can hear the movement of people and the cleaning staff from your room.

  The location was great for visiting the opera house, the hotel had lots of character and the room, overlooking a large courtyard, was wonderfully quiet.
  
  What could be improved: The plastic mattress protector was horrid. I can't sleep on synthetic materials so I usually sleep on a cotton towel. However, the towels can't have been pure cotton as they were uncomfortable too. I do wish hotels would stop using synthetic bedding!

  Great location! The hotel is situated close to one of the lakes and within walking distance of the centre. The room was very comfortable and cosy. We also spent a lovely evening at the hotel bar, which had a relaxed vibe.
