You know what? Hotel Boritzka caught me completely off guard. I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to this 3-star place, I wasn’t expecting much. The exterior is pretty understated, almost like it’s trying not to draw attention to itself, but once you’re inside, there’s this unexpected warmth that hits you. The lobby has this lived-in feeling that actually works in its favor – not fancy, but genuinely comfortable in a way that makes you think the staff actually cares about the place.

The rooms are where this hotel really shows its personality. Mine was on the third floor (there’s an elevator, thank god), and while it wasn’t huge, everything felt thoughtfully arranged. The bed was surprisingly good – I mean, you never know with mid-range hotels whether you’re going to wake up feeling like you wrestled with a mattress all night, but I slept really well. What I loved was the little reading nook by the window with an actual comfortable chair – not one of those stiff hotel chairs that look nice but are torture to sit in. The bathroom was compact but clean, with decent water pressure and those little touches like proper hooks for your towel that show someone was thinking about real guests, not just filling a space.

Honestly, the staff is what makes this place special. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk guy (I think his name was Marcus?) actually knew the neighborhood well enough to give me solid restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the tourist traps. The breakfast isn’t anything fancy – continental style with decent coffee and fresh pastries – but they keep it stocked and the dining area gets nice morning light. I noticed they’re pretty good about keeping common areas clean without being obsessive about it. The WiFi worked consistently, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. There’s street parking if you’re driving, though it can get tight in the evenings when locals come home from work. The 7.5 rating makes perfect sense to me – it’s not trying to be something it isn’t, but what it does, it does well. If you’re looking for marble bathrooms and concierge service, keep looking. But if you want a place that feels genuine and won’t drain your wallet while keeping you comfortable, Boritzka delivers exactly that.

  Very friendly staff. A lovely bright room with comfy beds and the possibility to sit outside on the small terrace with a cup of tea which we were offered by the kind receptionist.
  
  What could be improved: Unfortunately we had a problem with the sink in the room and after telling the reception lady she sorted it out whilst we were not there.

  Small but comfortable room, everything was clean and tidy. Staff was very gracious. A supermarket and metro station across the street.
