You know what? Hotel Cockpit caught me completely off guard. I mean, with a name like that, I was honestly expecting some cheesy aviation-themed place with plastic propellers on the walls – but it’s actually got this understated, almost industrial-chic thing going on that really works. The lobby has these exposed concrete elements and vintage leather chairs that feel genuinely worn-in, not artificially distressed like so many places try to do these days.

The thing about this place is that it sits in that sweet spot where you’re getting solid three-star comfort without any of the pretentious nonsense. My room was compact but thoughtfully laid out – I actually appreciated that they didn’t try to cram in unnecessary furniture just to fill space. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), and the shower had proper water pressure, which honestly makes or breaks a stay for me. There’s this quirky attention to detail too – like the reading lights are positioned exactly where you’d want them, and the outlets are actually accessible without having to move furniture around. Small stuff, but it shows someone was thinking.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the area. When I asked about dinner options, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – he actually walked me through which streets to avoid if I didn’t want crowds, and pointed out this little family-run place two blocks over that I never would’ve found otherwise. The 7.1 rating makes sense to me because it’s not trying to be something it isn’t. It’s clean, comfortable, and functional without being flashy. I stayed during what seemed like a busy period and never felt like the service suffered – check-in was smooth, housekeeping was unobtrusive, and the common areas stayed tidy. Honestly, sometimes you just want a place that does the basics really well rather than promising the moon and delivering mediocrity. Hotel Cockpit gets that balance right.

  Clean, easy check-in and checkout. Friendly staff. Nothing fancy but perfect for a short stay very close to the airport. Nice restaurants and groceries shopping near by.

  Practical and well located hotel for our interests. The price is great for the area and even if the building is a bit dated, it is in excellent shape, everything works and the airplane theme does give it an interesting charm.

  Basic and functional hotel close to the airport with good transport links, close to shops and restaurants. Warm welcome, helpful staff. Great water pressure and great breakfast (with Rote Grütze and Knäckebrot).
  
  What could be improved: No hair dryer in room (reception fixed this right away), no full view mirror and no telephone either (neither of the 2 were needed but if it says on the web site…). There's nothing offensive about the decor but it isn't pretty/welcoming either.
