Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name “House of Grimm,” I was expecting something either super Gothic or completely cheesy. Turns out it’s neither, which was actually a pleasant surprise. This 3-star spot has this quirky charm that grows on you, sort of like that friend who tells terrible jokes but somehow makes them endearing.

The place definitely has character, and I mean that in the best way possible. You know how some hotels feel like they were designed by a committee? This isn’t that. There’s real personality here – maybe it’s the way they’ve done the common areas, or how the staff actually remembers your name after day one, but something clicks. The 7.7 rating makes total sense once you settle in. It’s not trying to be the Ritz, and honestly, that works in its favor. The rooms are comfortable without being flashy, and everything functions the way it should. I mean, the Wi-Fi actually works consistently, which – let’s be real – is sometimes asking a lot these days.

What really won me over was the vibe during different parts of the day. Mornings are pretty chill, perfect if you’re one of those people who needs coffee before human interaction. Evenings get a bit more social in the lobby area, but never rowdy or overwhelming. The check-in process was smooth – no standing around for twenty minutes while they “find your reservation” or any of that nonsense. And here’s something small but important: the walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation from the neighboring rooms. Trust me, I’ve stayed in places where you feel like you’re bunking with strangers whether you want to or not. The location works well too, though I won’t sugarcoat it – you’ll want to do a bit of research on getting around, depending on what you’re planning to do. It’s not one of those places where everything touristy is right outside your door, but that also means you’re not dealing with crowds of people taking selfies at 7 AM either. Parking was straightforward when I was there, no hunting around the block or paying ridiculous daily fees.

The thing about House of Grimm is that it delivers on being a solid, no-drama place to stay. You’re not going to Instagram every corner of your room, but you’ll sleep well, the shower has decent water pressure, and you’ll leave feeling like you got fair value for what you paid. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need – a place that just works without trying too hard to impress you.

Visitors often choose Hamburg apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Hanseatic city.

  Uncomplicated check in and hosts. Very practical accommodation. It has all you need to sleep comfortably, shower and eat before or after heading out. Convenient public transport to get to and from the city. Lovely quiet location.
  
  What could be improved: Everything was as expected. Not super luxury or close to city centre but that's already clear before you book. Perfectly good accommodation for the price. Those demanding more should not really choose this place. The stairs to the top room are very narrow and steep so someone with mobility issues would not get up there, but otherwise it's fine.

  The house/apartment was very nice. It had a TV, kitchen, bathroom, towels. The location was ok., close to a train station to get into town. The host was very friendly!
  
  What could be improved: The sleep sofa downstairs was not really big enough for 2 teenagers, but for 1 night they survived. There was no toilet paper, so we had to buy some.

  Location was nice.
  Easy to get the key from main door.
  
  What could be improved: Bathroom has a lack of ventilation, dampness present there.
  Shower cabin half glass is missing.
  Kitchen should have a microwave in my opinion for a quick use if required.
  In description it is not mentioned that there is a room in the attic, accessed by a narrow and steep ladder.
  Anyway, we don't think this is suitable accommodation for a family with small children.

  Es war sehr ruhig, das Haus war nett eingerichtet und wir haben uns wohlgefühlt. Die Waschmaschine war goldwert.

  Sehr, sehr gemütliches Haus, etwas außerhalb der City gelegen, aber mit guter Anbindung an den ÖPV , in einem sehr grünen Stadtteil von Hamburg. Im Haus war alles vorhanden.
