Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Living in Hamburg City Center,” I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name alone. But this little 3-star spot really surprised me in the best way possible. You know what struck me first? It actually feels like you’re living somewhere, not just crashing in another sterile hotel room. The whole setup has this residential vibe that makes you want to settle in rather than just dump your suitcase and run.

The location is honestly fantastic – you’re right in the thick of things without being on one of those crazy loud tourist strips. I mean, you can walk to the Rathaus in maybe ten minutes, and the Speicherstadt is close enough that you’ll probably end up wandering over there multiple times (trust me, it’s addictive at different times of day). What I really appreciated was being able to grab groceries at the little markets nearby and actually cook something if I wanted to. The staff seemed genuinely surprised when I asked about the nearest Edeka, but they knew exactly where to send me – that’s the kind of local knowledge that matters.

Here’s the thing about Hamburg that took me a while to figure out: the weather changes constantly, so having a comfortable base where you can regroup between exploring sessions is crucial. This place gets that. The rooms have enough space to actually spread out your stuff, and there’s decent natural light even on those gray North Sea days. I stayed during one of those weeks where it rained every afternoon around 3 PM like clockwork, and honestly, it was nice to have somewhere that felt homey to wait it out. The heating works well too – not always a given in these older buildings, but they’ve clearly put some thought into the practical stuff. One small thing that bugged me initially was the street noise in the mornings, but you adapt pretty quickly, and honestly, those sounds kind of become part of the Hamburg experience. The 8.9 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there a few days – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on what actually matters to travelers who want to experience the city rather than hide from it in some corporate bubble.

Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Hamburg through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for exploring the city’s rich maritime heritage.

  • Christoffer from Sweden – 19 July 2024 (9/10)

Location excellent. Nice beds. Easy nighttime parking, daytime only 2 hours. 100% recomend!

  • Filip from Denmark – 15 February 2024 (9/10)

Great location in Hamburg city center, and we managed to park right outside the apartment.
The apartment was light and spacious, we are a family of 4, two kids at 13 and 15 years, we all shared same bedroom, which worked brilliantly.
When we arrived at the apartment, there we lined up crisp’s and beverages at the table, thank you.
We picked up sushi just around the corner at Yoko Sushi (highly recommendable), and had a very nice dinner in the apartment.

What could be improved: Minor detail, nice beds and all, but if you don’t like very large fluffy pillows, then bring your own.

  • Bec from Australia – 22 December 2023 (9/10)

So homely and had everything we needed.

  • Fabian from Switzerland – 12 October 2023 (9/10)

Amazing location, staff responses very quickly (within minutes), very clean, comfortable, friendly staff, nice coffee machine

What could be improved: Missing some kitchen accessories, slight smell to cigarette smoke (although there’s a no-smoking sign)

  • Alejandra from United States – 25 May 2023 (9/10)

    everything

  • Groenevelt from Netherlands – 25 February 2025 (8/10)

Very pleasant and light apartment in the middle of the city. Enough facilities for a comfortable stay when you are with a group.

What could be improved: We needed some more proper kitchen materials for prepping a group dinner and the floor was a bit dusty upon arrival but that was manageable of course.

  • Yaoqun from Australia – 3 February 2025 (9/10)

    Very good room

What could be improved: A little difficult to find this unit

  • Hüsnü from Turkey – 6 December 2024 (8/10)

Location is perfect, parking space was usually available in front of the house after 20:00(free at night).

What could be improved: Could be cleaner, there was a lot of dust under the beds. Normally no one checks but our kid was crawling this is how we saw it😃

  • Nirupa from United Kingdom – 14 December 2023 (8/10)

    Location was central

What could be improved: Only 1 bathroom do if there were a lot of you then it’s not enough

  • Manou from Netherlands – 7 January 2023 (8/10)

Very centrally located spacious appartement, well stocked and clean. Everything looked new and check-in was ridiculously easy.

What could be improved: The beds were very, very soft and the bedroom was to light at night. For some reason the offices opposite the appartement keep huge lights on at night and the curtains aren't dense enough too block the light. We missed a hairdrier.
