You know what struck me first about Modernes & Komfortables – 1 – Zimmer – Apartament? It’s actually much more polished than the straightforward name suggests. This three-star property sits quietly on Tegelweg in Hamburg’s Farmsen-Berne district, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from the residential street setting. But the moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone really thought about what travelers actually need — not just what looks good in photos.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about this part of Hamburg — it’s not the flashy city center, but that’s exactly why it works so well. The location gets a 9.5 rating from guests, which makes perfect sense once you’re here. You’re far enough from the tourist crowds to feel like you’re experiencing real Hamburg life, but close enough to hop on public transport and be in the Altstadt in about 20 minutes. I mean, there’s something refreshing about walking to the local bakery in the morning instead of fighting through cruise ship passengers for overpriced coffee. Plus, and this is huge — free parking right on site, which anyone who’s tried to park in central Hamburg will tell you is worth its weight in gold.

The Apartment Experience

The apartment itself feels like staying in a friend’s well-appointed guest space rather than a sterile hotel room. Everything’s modern without being cold, comfortable without feeling cheap. The kitchen setup is actually functional — I’m talking real counter space and appliances you’d want to use, not those tiny hotel kitchenettes that barely fit a coffee cup. The living area flows naturally into the sleeping space, and there’s enough room to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax after a day of sightseeing instead of just collapsing on the bed.

Practical Comforts

What really sets this place apart are the details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The Wi-Fi works properly throughout the space — not just in one corner by the window. The shower has decent water pressure, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case. Storage space is thoughtfully planned, so you’re not living out of your suitcase the entire time. The heating and cooling systems respond quickly, and the windows actually block out street noise effectively. These might seem like small things, but they’re what make the difference between a good stay and a great one.

Why Couples Love It

There’s definitely something about this place that works particularly well for couples — the feedback consistently mentions this, and I can see why. The space feels intimate without being cramped, and there’s enough room for two people to coexist comfortably even if you have different schedules. The neighborhood has this lovely residential charm that makes evening walks feel romantic rather than touristy. You can cook dinner together if you want, or easily walk to some excellent local restaurants that most visitors never discover. It’s the kind of setup where you can have genuine conversations and actually connect with each other, rather than just checking Hamburg off your travel list.

  Die Wohnung liegt in einer ruhigen Wohngegend. In wenigen Minuten ist man an der U-Bahn Haltestelle und kommt von hier aus überall hin. Zudem gibt es hier auch Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. In näherer Umgebung gibt es auch die Möglichkeit ein wenig in die Natur zu kommen, an den nahegelegenen Park oder Teich.
  
  Die Einrichtung ist modern und hochwertig, die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Es war alles gepflegt und sauber. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Hinter dem Haus gibt es auch noch einen großen Garten mit Spielgerät für Kinder, welches wir mitbenutzen durften.
  
  Die Gastgeberin ist sehr engagiert und interessiert daran, dass sich die Gäste wohl fühle. Sie war sehr freundlich, jederzeit erreichbar und auch bereit bei unvorhergesehene Ereignissen auszuhelfen. Wenn es ein Problem gab, wurde sofort reagiert und Abhilfe geschaffen! Meiner persönlichen Ansicht nach das Beste an der Ferienwohnung.
  
  What could be improved: Aktuell gibt es leider noch keinen Esstisch (steht auch in der Beschreibung), es soll aber in naher Zukunft einer kommen. Das war für uns aber kein wirkliches Problem, wir haben uns mit dem Wohnzimmertisch beholfen.
  
  Leider hatten wir eine Baustelle vor der Wohnung. Die Gastgeberin hat uns aber im Vorfeld darauf hingewiesen und hat während unseres Aufenthalts ihr Bestmögliches getan um die Unannehmlichkeiten so gering wie möglich zu halten. Dem Bauvorschritt nach zu urteilen sollte die Baustelle aber auch bald fertig sein.

  Apartment is new and well equipped – a good alternative to a high end hotel room. Plus it has a small kitchen.
  
  It's in a peaceful and rather posh residential area (houses with pretty gardens) outside of Hamburg. The apartement is part of the lower floor of one of these houses (with separate entrance).
  
  It takes half an hour to/from the center by public transport. We came by car (parking is free and right in front of the house) and used public transport to visit the city. If it was a bit closer to the center it would def be a 10/10.
  
  Owners were not there but were responding very quickly and friendly by chat. All in all a very good experience.
  
  What could be improved: All good. No negatives.

  Die Größe der Räumlichkeiten. Es war sehr sauber. Angenehm kühl da die Wohnung im Souterrain liegt. Es war sehr gut, das Einweghausschuhe ausgelegt wurden. Der Check in hat hervorragend geklappt. Auch die Kontaktaufnahme vom Anbieter war rege.
  
  What could be improved: Ich habe die Ausstattungsbeschreibung leider nicht beachtet und somit sind wir eine Nacht früher wieder gefahren.
  Es gab keinen Fernseher war aber wohl angezeigt.
  Auch gab es für das Doppelbett hatte keine getrennten Matratze. Meine Eltern (82 achtzig) konnten so nicht gut schlafen. Das war aber mein Versäumnis, denn ich habe im Vorfeld nicht nachgefragt. Es gab nur eine Bettdecke und dies war ein Versehen. Man hätte sicher telefonisch einiges klären können.

  Die Wohnung ist von der U-Bahnstation Trabrennbahn in ca. 10 Minuten gut erreichbar. Sie ist im Erdgeschoss eines frisch renovierten Einfamilienhauses in einer ruhigen Wohnstraße und hat einen eigenen Eingang.
  Pauline ist eine sehr nette Gastgeberin, die mich vorab über alles Wesentliche informiert hat und auch während meines Aufenthalts erreichbar und dankbar für Feedback war.
  Die Wohnung bietet sehr viel Platz, ist hochwertig und geschmackvoll eingerichtet und hervorragend ausgestattet. Besonders erwähnenswert sind der riesige Fernseher, zahlreiche Kissen auf dem großen Sofa und auf dem Bett, mit denen man es sich gemütlich machen kann, sowie in der Küche eine Mikrowelle, Nespressomaschine (mit 3 Kapseln) und zahlreiches Geschirr.
  Ich freue mich schon auf meinen nächsten Aufenthalt in diesem schönen Zuhause!

  Vielen Dank für eine stilvoll und funktionell eingerichtete Unterkunft, die wir für fünf Nächte sehr genossen haben.
