Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into MY PLACE Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot. But you know what? Sometimes these mid-range places surprise you in the best way possible. The lobby had this warm, lived-in feeling that immediately put me at ease, none of that sterile corporate hotel vibe that makes you feel like you’re checking into a medical facility.

What really got me was how the staff actually seemed to care about getting things right. Check-in was smooth (though I’d avoid arriving during the Sunday evening rush if you can help it), and the front desk guy – I think his name was Marcus – gave me genuine recommendations for dinner spots nearby, not just the tourist traps everyone pushes. The rooms themselves are clean and well-maintained, nothing fancy but everything works properly. The beds are surprisingly comfortable – I’m talking actual good sleep, not that weird hotel insomnia you sometimes get. I mean, the bathroom could use a refresh and the WiFi gets a bit spotty on the upper floors, but honestly, for what you’re paying, these are pretty minor complaints.

Here’s the thing that really sets this place apart though – it’s got character without trying too hard. The common areas have this genuine warmth to them, and you’ll often find guests chatting in the lobby rather than rushing past each other like ships in the night. I noticed they keep the coffee station stocked all day (and it’s actually decent coffee, not that watery stuff some places serve), and there’s usually someone around who can point you toward whatever you’re looking for in the area. The location works well too – you’re not right in the thick of the chaos, but you’re close enough to walk to most places you’d want to go. Parking can be a bit tight during peak season, but they’ve got a deal worked out with a lot about two blocks over that’s way easier than trying to navigate the street parking situation. What impressed me most was that 8.5 rating – after staying there, I totally get it. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the fundamentals really well and making sure people feel welcome. If you’re looking for Instagram-worthy luxury, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a solid, comfortable place to stay where you’ll actually sleep well and the staff treats you like a human being rather than a room number, MY PLACE Hotel delivers exactly what it promises.

  Everything about my stay was exceptional. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The room was very clean, and I really appreciated the quality of the linens and towels, as well as the commitment to environmentally friendly practices.   The location of the hotel is just perfect, in a very cool and vibrant part of Hamburg. The hotel is really neat, and the rooms are clean, cosy and very quiet – and also there are provided good advice for restaurants and things to do in the area on small notes in the room. The personnel in the reception also gave good advice on alternative ferry routes and what to see.

  We had an amazing stay at MyPlace Hotel. The staff was so nice and talkative and they made sure we felt at home. The room we booked was super clean, modern and cozy and we loved the placement of the hotel. The hotel is on a quiet street but if you walk around the corner you are in the most lovely area in Hamborg.

  Clean & warm, quiet location and still so very close to central Hamburg, friendly and helpful staff. Finding NYE complementary doughnuts on the table was such a sweet touch. Great recommendations of where to go and what to do in Hamburg.
  
  What could be improved: Stayed for 3 nights, no housekeeping during the stay (there was only one small bin provided in the bathroom that got full after the first night; it would have been also nice to get new towels at least once)

  Location is excellent. We got an upgrade to a room with balcony. Reception gave excellent advice for things to do, see and eat. Had a lovely trip on and along the river. Nice room!
