You know what caught me off guard about the NH Collection Hamburg City? It’s actually got this sophisticated vibe that doesn’t feel stuffy at all. I mean, when you walk into the lobby, there’s this perfect balance of modern design and warmth that makes you think “okay, they get it.” The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too – not that overly rehearsed hotel politeness, but like they actually wanted to make sure you knew your way around.

The rooms are honestly really well thought out. I stayed on the seventh floor and the soundproofing is solid – you’re not going to be kept up by Hamburg’s nightlife unless you want to be. The beds are proper comfortable (none of that rock-hard European mattress nonsense), and they’ve got these blackout curtains that actually work. What I loved most though was the bathroom setup – spacious shower, good water pressure, and enough counter space that you’re not playing Tetris with your toiletries. The little details matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two.

Location-wise, you’re really well positioned here. It’s close enough to the Speicherstadt that you can easily walk over to see the historic warehouses, but you’re not stuck in the super touristy zone where everything’s overpriced. The Hafencity area has some genuinely good restaurants within walking distance – I found this great little place serving fresh fish that locals actually go to, not just hotel guests. And honestly, if you need to get around the city, the public transport connections are straightforward from here. Parking can be a bit of a pain (this is Hamburg, after all), but the hotel staff knew the drill and pointed me toward a decent garage nearby. What really impressed me was how the hotel maintains that 4-star quality without feeling generic – you know how some chain hotels just feel like they could be anywhere? This one actually feels like it belongs in Hamburg, if that makes sense. The common areas have character, the service feels personal, and that 8.7 rating isn’t just numbers – you can feel why guests keep coming back.

  The staff were very friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable. The gym, sauna and rooftop area were excellent. The location was great as it was close to an area with lots of restaurants.

  The room was very good. There was a small separation between the bed of our kid and us. All additional staff were available in the room like disposable slippers, combs, everything. The bathroom was so clean.

  Location was fantastic as we were going to a gig in the bunker over the road. The room rate itself was good value for money and the hotel was clean and comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: I had called and requested an early check in which they said they would accommodate but on arrival this was only available at a cost of 60 euros. This was 70% of the actual room rate. Would catch a later flight next time!!

  Great family rooms, can accomodate 4 with the pull-out couch. Basically the rooms are suites, very large and Nespresso machine present as well. Very nice breakfast and the location of the hotel was ideal for exploring the (inner)city with a subway station at a 5 minute walk. eScooters are also widely available through various providers literally around the corner. Private parking available including 6x 11kW chargers.
