So I stumbled into the NYX Hotel Hamburg pretty much by accident when my original booking fell through last minute, and honestly? Best travel mishap I’ve had in years. The place has this whole moody, contemporary vibe going on – you know how some boutique hotels try too hard to be edgy and just end up looking like a nightclub? This one actually pulls it off without making you feel like you need sunglasses indoors.

The lobby hits you with these deep purples and blacks, but it’s warm somehow, not cold like you’d expect. There’s always this subtle electronic music playing that somehow makes perfect sense, and the staff – I mean, they’re genuinely helpful without that robotic hospitality thing that drives me nuts. Check-in was smooth, though I’d definitely recommend getting there before 3 PM if you can swing it because that’s when all the business travelers seem to descend. The rooms are sleek in that German efficiency way, but with personality. Dark wood, these cool lighting features that you can actually adjust (thank god), and the beds… well, let’s just say I slept better than I have in months. The shower pressure is fantastic too, which honestly makes or breaks a hotel stay for me.

What really got me though was the breakfast situation – it’s this whole spread that manages to feel both international and distinctly local. You’ve got your standard hotel fare, sure, but then there are these little Hamburg touches that show someone actually thought about where they are. The coffee is proper strong, none of that watery stuff you sometimes get. Location-wise, you’re close enough to the Speicherstadt that you can walk there without breaking a sweat, but far enough from the main tourist chaos that you’re not dealing with crowds every time you step outside. I ended up exploring the Hafencity area quite a bit – it’s all modern architecture and waterfront views, perfect for those early morning walks when the city’s still waking up. The whole area feels like Hamburg’s showing off its contemporary side, which matches the hotel perfectly. If you’re looking for traditional German charm with timber beams and all that, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want something that feels current and design-forward while still being genuinely comfortable, the NYX really delivers. Just don’t expect to blend into the background – this place has opinions, and they’re all pretty good ones.

  The hotel looks like as in the picturee. We have been here before and we like the location, which is a little off but has the S and U Bahn very close.

  Hotel was great. Room comfortable with nice bathroom and beds, enough space to store our things. Breakfast was very large, varied and delicious. The staff were also always friendly. The hotel has two arcade machines, a foosball table and a basketball machine, so even staying there it’s fun guaranteed. It’s located less than a block away from a bus stop/S-Bahn. It was an excellent stay!

  I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Everything looked just like the photos, and the room was clean and well-maintained. It was very stylish and nicely decorated. The bed was super comfortable, and the bedding felt soft and pleasant. The location is great — in a quiet and peaceful area, perfect for relaxing. I would definitely stay here again!
