Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “Hammerbrook,” I had to look it up on the map. It’s not exactly the Hamburg district that rolls off everyone’s tongue, you know? But actually, that turned out to be one of the best things about the Premier Inn there. You’re tucked away in this sort of business-y area that’s surprisingly quiet once the office crowd clears out around 6 PM, but you can still hop on the U-Bahn and be in the Speicherstadt or city center in maybe 10 minutes.

The hotel itself is exactly what you’d expect from Premier Inn – clean, efficient, zero surprises. Which honestly is exactly what I wanted after a long day wandering around the Reeperbahn (well, that’s a story for another time). The rooms have that familiar purple accent thing going on, and the beds are genuinely comfortable – I mean, I’m usually a light sleeper but I slept straight through until morning both nights. What I didn’t expect was how quiet it would be. The area’s mostly offices and some residential blocks, so there’s none of that street noise you get in Sankt Pauli or even parts of Altstadt. The staff at check-in were pretty efficient too, though they seemed to switch between German and English mid-conversation, which was actually kind of charming.

Here’s what really worked for me though – there’s this little Turkish place just around the corner that serves incredible döner until late (the locals clearly know about it because there’s always a line around dinner time), and you’re literally a five-minute walk from Hammerbrook station. I actually ended up exploring parts of Hamburg I probably wouldn’t have seen otherwise because the transport connections are so easy from there. Plus, and this might sound weird, but I loved walking along the Bille river in the mornings – there’s this industrial-meets-nature vibe that’s surprisingly peaceful. The hotel doesn’t have anything fancy like a spa or rooftop bar, but honestly, for the price point and that 8.3 rating, you’re getting solid value. It’s the kind of place where everything just works without any fuss, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need. If you’re the type who wants to be right in the thick of things on Jungfernstieg, this might feel too removed, but if you appreciate having a quiet base to return to after exploring the city, it hits the sweet spot.

  Location is very good. Close to the city centre and easy to reach from the high way.
  
  What could be improved: Parking is a bit expensive (24 euro/d). each time you drive in/out you have to pay. Other hotels apply one rate and you can drive in and out during the days without additional payments.
  the toilet/bad room had a bad smell which gradually disappeared when the shower was used.
