You know what? When I first walked into the Premier Inn Hamburg City Klostertor, I honestly wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s a 3-star chain hotel, right? But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe without trying too hard, and the staff at check-in were genuinely friendly (not that forced hotel smile you usually get).

What really sold me on this spot is the location – you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the Hauptbahnhof, which sounds touristy but is actually perfect because you can hop on the U-Bahn and be anywhere in Hamburg without dealing with taxis or rental cars. The Klostertor area itself is sort of this interesting mix where you’ve got business hotels next to little Turkish cafés and convenience stores that stay open late. I grabbed coffee from this tiny place around the corner every morning – way better than hotel coffee, honestly. The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from Premier Inn: clean, comfortable beds (seriously, they nail the mattress situation), decent shower pressure, and those blackout curtains that actually work. Nothing fancy, but everything functions properly, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed.

Here’s the thing though – and this is where the 8.2 rating makes total sense – it’s the little details that make this place work. The Wi-Fi is fast enough for video calls, there’s always hot water (even at 6 AM when half the hotel is showering), and the housekeeping staff actually pays attention to details like restocking the tea and coffee properly. I stayed during a busy trade fair week, and while the hotel was packed, it never felt chaotic or understaffed. The breakfast isn’t included in the cheapest rates, but there’s a Rewe supermarket literally across the street where you can grab pastries and coffee for a fraction of the price. Plus, if you’re willing to walk maybe ten minutes toward the Alster, you’ll hit some really solid breakfast spots that locals actually use – much better scene than typical hotel dining rooms. One small thing that bugged me was the elevator situation during peak hours (everyone checking out at the same time creates a bit of a bottleneck), but honestly, I just started taking the stairs and it was fine. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, so if you’re looking for nightlife, you’ll want to head toward St. Pauli or Sternschanze, but that’s a quick U-Bahn ride anyway. For what you pay – and especially considering you’re getting a reliable room in a city where hotel prices can be absolutely brutal – this Premier Inn delivers exactly what it promises without any weird surprises.

  Great location for the marathon, only 3 stops on the s-bahn to the expo and marathon start/finish.

  The hotel is relatively close to the center and has train stations and bus stops very close by, allowing you to reach the Central Station in less than 15 minutes. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

  What could be improved: They didn't have complementary tooth brushes and tooth paste which is a must in hotels. Also, no mineral water bottles were provided as complementary.

  Beautiful hotel. Clean and very comfortable. The staff were very helpful. A great happy hour each night at the bar too and a great area to sit in downstairs and unwind. Location not amazing but easy to catch buses and the underground is not too far away. All in all I would highly recommend this place.

  For people who are noise sensitive, the train sounds could disturb with sleeping.

  Location was not bad it is like 30 minutes to Center.
  
  What could be improved: It would be better if cleaning was good, I don’t like their clean room, they don’t change my bed everyday and don’t wash the bathroom anymore just putting towels. Even one they they didn’t put coffee.
  Even I told about clean the next day they didn’t clean normal.
