Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first pulled up to the Premier Inn in St. Pauli, I wasn’t sure what to expect – I mean, this is Hamburg’s infamous party district we’re talking about. But you know what? This place actually works really well as a base, especially if you want to be right in the thick of things without paying boutique hotel prices.
The location is pretty much perfect if you’re here to experience Hamburg’s nightlife scene. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the Reeperbahn (though far enough that you won’t have drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 3am). What I really appreciated was how easy it made getting around – the St. Pauli U-Bahn station is close enough that you can hop over to the Speicherstadt or HafenCity without any hassle. And here’s something most people don’t realize: you’re actually within walking distance of some excellent Turkish and Portuguese restaurants that locals frequent, not just the touristy spots everyone talks about. The staff seemed to know this stuff too – they pointed me toward this incredible döner place that I never would’ve found otherwise.
The rooms themselves are exactly what you’d expect from Premier Inn, which honestly isn’t a bad thing. Clean, comfortable beds that actually let you sleep (crucial after exploring Hamburg’s bar scene), decent shower pressure, and – this matters more than you’d think – good blackout curtains. I stayed during summer when the sun barely sets, and I could still get proper sleep. The soundproofing is surprisingly good considering you’re in St. Pauli; I could hear some street noise during particularly busy weekend nights, but nothing that kept me awake. One small thing that bugged me was the air conditioning – it’s more like a fan system, so if you’re visiting during a heat wave, just manage your expectations. The breakfast was solid, nothing fancy but they had proper coffee and enough variety to fuel a day of sightseeing. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk folks spoke excellent English, which helped when I needed directions to the fish market early Sunday morning (totally worth the early wake-up, by the way).
What really sold me on this place was the value proposition. You’re getting a reliable, comfortable stay in one of Hamburg’s most vibrant neighborhoods for a fraction of what you’d pay at the fancier hotels near the Alster. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with luxury amenities or Instagram-worthy interiors, but that 8.2 rating makes sense – it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re the type of traveler who wants a clean, comfortable room and easy access to everything Hamburg has to offer, this works perfectly. Just don’t expect spa services or a rooftop bar – you’ll find plenty of bars within a two-minute walk anyway.
Visitors often choose Hamburg apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Hanseatic city.

Location is beside St Pauli metro. So very accessible. Bars, restaurants, entertainment all within walking distance. Hotel itself is a bright modern facility with very friendly staff. Liked Happy hour and the funky lighting in the bedroom was a nice surprise 😀.
What could be improved: I thought €17.90 was a bit pricey for breakfast. Maybe if someone is staying a few nights offer a discount. Hope I am not being unfair here because the range of food was excellent.Daniel from Italy – 21 April 2025 (9/10)

Location was excellent. Just around the corner was the Reeperbahn and its busy nightlife. Also close to the St.Pauli U-Bahn station which allowed easy access to both the airport and the city centre. A 10 minute stroll from the hotel was the River Elbe and the Fishmarket as well as stops for both the ferries and the harbour cruise boats. Hotel room was excellent size with very comfortable beds. On-site bar has an excellent half-price happy hour. Midday check-out was very useful as our return flights weren`t until late afternoon so it allowed more time to relax in comfort before setting off.
What could be improved: Very little in the way of storage. Just a few hangars but no drawer space. No really an issue if you are only staying one or two nights I guess.Sean from United Kingdom – 24 February 2025 (7/10)
