Hotel Description

So you’re looking at Schulterblatt-Apartments Hamburg Unit 3, and honestly? The name’s a mouthful but the place itself is pretty solid for what it is. I mean, we’re talking about a proper apartment setup that sleeps five people in the Schanzenviertel area – which, if you know Hamburg at all, is where things actually happen after dark. The Schulterblatt itself is this buzzing street that’s got everything from late-night döner spots to craft cocktail bars, and you’re basically dropped right in the middle of it all.

The apartment feels lived-in rather than hotel-sterile, which I actually prefer when I’m staying somewhere for more than a couple nights. You’ve got a full kitchen (thank god, because eating out every meal in Hamburg will destroy your budget), and the space is configured so five people aren’t constantly stepping on each other – though let’s be real, it’s still an urban apartment, not a mansion. The 7.6 rating makes sense to me because it delivers on the basics without any fancy frills. Sometimes the building can get a bit noisy, especially on weekends when people are heading to and from the bars below, but that’s just the trade-off for being in the thick of things. If you’re the type who needs absolute silence, maybe look elsewhere, but if you want to feel like you’re actually living in Hamburg rather than visiting it, this works.

What I really appreciate is how connected you are to the rest of the city from here. The Sternschanze U-Bahn station is close enough that you can stumble to it even after a long night, and from there you’re maybe fifteen minutes to the Speicherstadt or the fish market on Sunday mornings. The Schanzenviertel has this interesting mix – you’ve got students and artists mixed with young professionals, so the whole neighborhood has this energy that feels authentic rather than touristy. There’s a great little Turkish market nearby where you can grab fresh produce if you’re planning to cook, and honestly, some of the best coffee in Hamburg is within walking distance. The apartment itself won’t win any design awards, but it’s clean, functional, and the kind of place where you can spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re camping. For five people splitting the cost, especially if you’re planning to explore Hamburg properly rather than just sleeping there, it’s actually pretty smart choice – you get the local experience without the local rent prices.

Reviews

  • Joanna from United Kingdom – 4 January 2025 (9/10)

The very clean room exceeded expectations- there was a dishwasher and freezer section for example. And there was a welcome package – all of which were unexpected. We used all the bedding with our family of 4 and found extras too.

What could be improved: It was quite hot and we slept with the windows open in December, but this wasn’t the worst thing ever.

  • Claudia from Ireland – 10 December 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: To hot, the heating was to much

  • Emma from United Kingdom – 18 July 2023 (7/10)

Well equipped and yet also compact.

What could be improved: The arrival process could have been easier – none of the families who arrived at the same time as us knew which room was ours so we had to check each code. Also ourselves and the neighboring family had problems with the Wi-Fi on the first day. Otherwise all good.

  • Dror from Israel – 22 July 2024 (9/10)

The apartment was 1 out of 5 apartments in this property, the check-in was online and the representatives were with us on the WhatsApp, which was convenient. There's a dish washer and a fully equipped coffee machine.

What could be improved: The sofa bed mattress was bad, made my back ache. There were not enough electricity sockets, just one useable in the sleeping area. You can use the provided extensions. The coffee machine needed maintenance and it took a while to get it to be useable.

  • Nadeem from United Kingdom – 6 July 2024 (9/10)

Nice clean apartment in a great location

  • Kate from Germany – 3 May 2024 (7/10)

What could be improved: There was a lot of mold in the bathroom. And the check-in times were very inconvienent… 16:00 check-in is quite late. There was an option to pay 30 Euros to check in "early" (anytime after 13:00) which should be the automatic standard check-in time. In my opinion this is just another tactic to make quick money. With an early check-out time of 10:00, there is no need for such a late check-in time. This was disappointing.

  • Naresh from United Kingdom – 16 January 2024 (8/10)

Nice, All as per description , cozy and convenient

  • Julius from Lithuania – 19 May 2023 (8/10)

Very good value and perfect for short stay. Not far from many restaurants and bars. Really good location. There was a kitchen with every thing you need.

  • Assad from Denmark – 6 May 2025 (6/10)

What could be improved: Fire Alarm and the whole building is out. The reason was that we cook an egg! They came to switch it off after and hour. That sound was horrible for kids.

  • Cic from Italy – 19 September 2023 (9/10)

    Pulizia e posizione

    What could be improved: Niente
