You know what caught me off guard about Stayzz by Homyzz? The name sounds like some startup trying too hard, but honestly, these modern studios in Alsterdorf actually deliver on what they promise. I mean, when you’re dealing with Hamburg’s neighborhoods, location is everything – and being tucked between Alsterdorf and Winterhude puts you in this sweet spot that most tourists completely miss.

The studios themselves have that clean, minimalist thing going on without feeling sterile. Everything’s pretty new, which you can tell from the smell (that fresh paint and new furniture scent, but not overwhelming) and the way the bathroom fixtures actually work properly. The kitchenette setup is thoughtful too – they’ve got real plates, not paper ones, and the coffee machine is decent enough that I didn’t immediately hunt for the nearest café. What I really appreciated was the soundproofing; Hamburgers take their quiet seriously, and you’re not going to hear your neighbors having late-night conversations or early morning showers.

Here’s the thing about this area that makes it work so well – you’re walking distance to Stadtpark, which is honestly one of Hamburg’s best-kept secrets if you’re not from here. I’d jog there in the mornings and barely see other tourists, just locals with their dogs and the occasional yoga class by the water. The Alster is right there too, and if you walk about ten minutes toward Winterhude, you hit this strip of cafés and small shops that feel authentically Hamburg rather than tourist-Hamburg. The U-Bahn connections are solid – Alsterdorf station gets you downtown in maybe 15 minutes, though I found myself taking the bus more often because the route goes along some prettier streets.

Parking was surprisingly straightforward (they’ve got spots, which in Hamburg is basically winning the lottery), and check-in was one of those modern keypad situations – worked fine, though I did have to call once when I fat-fingered the code after a long day. The staff responded quickly, which matters when you’re standing outside at 9 PM with your luggage. The 8.7 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be the Vier Jahreszeiten, but for a 3-star place, they’ve figured out what business travelers and longer-stay visitors actually need. The Wi-Fi held up during video calls, the shower pressure was solid, and there’s enough space that you don’t feel like you’re living in a closet. If you’re the type who wants to experience Hamburg more like a resident than a tourist – morning runs in Stadtpark, coffee at neighborhood spots, easy access to both the city center and the more residential areas – this setup works really well.

  Honestly I was very surprised about the place, so clean and comfortable. Everything was new and nice. Location is 10/10 very near train station and some good restaurants around, calm neighborhood. The owner assisted me even after checkout. Definitely going back

  Clean, easy access in and out of building, underground parking, comfortable bed, big and easy to use TV. Perfect for a short stay. Very close to the airport.
  
  What could be improved: No fridge or any cooking equipment. Smelt like stale smoke as if someone had smoked inside. I’m a former smoker so it didn’t bother me but an air freshener would be a good little investment.

  Very new and cleaned so well. Easy to check-in and -out. Teas in the room were delicious and not just the cheap kind.
  
  What could be improved: The ventilation fan in the bathroom is a bit noisy, but it stops after a few minutes. Also, if I had to say, I would have liked a small waste bin in the room.

  It’s new on the market, they did a good job. Comfy bed, nice bathroom & a nespresso machine. Help with the self-check-in was also efficient. 😊

  I booked this hotel on very short notice, and it far exceeded my expectations! The room and furniture were brand new and spotlessly clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the location was convenient, not far from the city center. Downstairs, there’s a Budni store, giving you easy access to all the essentials. Overall, super modern and extremely comfortable!

  We were in town for a concert and were pleased to have found somewhere to stay close to the venue. We are often in Hamburg and had certain expectations due to the rather high price for this room.
  
  The building is modern and the rooms also looked fresh.
  Unfortunately, when we arrived at night, we found that we only had a small blanket for two people. However, there were plenty of towels, crockery, etc. available.
  
  As this apartment is not staffed, we were not able to organize another blanket, so we both had to share a small blanket. Also, the bed width for a double bed of 1.40m is not a good option for two adults.
  So the night was unfortunately a sleepless one.
  
  On the whole, however, the apartment is finely furnished, everything was clean and the check in/out was easy.
  
  For the price, however, we would have expected a more comfortable night.
