You know what struck me first about this little studio in Rotherbaum? It’s tucked away in one of Hamburg’s most genuinely livable neighborhoods – not the touristy bits everyone talks about, but where actual Hamburgers choose to live. I mean, you’re literally walking distance from the University of Hamburg, which gives the whole area this relaxed, intellectual vibe that’s honestly pretty refreshing after dealing with the cruise ship crowds down by the harbor.

The studio itself is… well, it’s exactly what it says on the tin. Nothing fancy, but it works for four people if you’re not planning to spend much time indoors anyway. The 7.2 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow you away, but there’s something charming about the no-frills approach. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, especially compared to staying near the Reeperbahn (been there, done that, learned my lesson). The windows actually block out most of the street noise, and since Rotherbaum isn’t exactly party central, you can actually get some sleep. Check-in was straightforward enough, though I’d recommend coordinating your arrival time in advance – these smaller places don’t always have someone hanging around the front desk.

Here’s the thing about staying in Rotherbaum that most visitors don’t realize until they’re here: you’re perfectly positioned between the city center and some of Hamburg’s best green spaces. Planten un Blomen is practically next door, and honestly, there’s nothing quite like grabbing coffee from one of the local cafés and wandering through those botanical gardens on a crisp morning. The S-Bahn connections are solid too – you can be at the Hauptbahnhof in maybe fifteen minutes, but you don’t have to deal with all that chaos when you come home. I found myself actually enjoying the slower pace here, especially after long days exploring the Speicherstadt or getting lost in the St. Pauli madness. Sure, it’s a three-star place and it shows in some of the details (the bathroom could use updating, if I’m being completely honest), but sometimes you just want a clean, comfortable base that doesn’t eat up half your travel budget. Plus, there’s something to be said for staying where the locals live rather than in some sterile hotel district where every restaurant is designed for tourists.

  the kitchen is very well prepared, which is very practical for longer stays or someone with kids.
  the apartment is beautifully decorated , nice quiet location with many nice cafes in the area and not too far from U bahn station
  
  What could be improved: the sofa bed was not very comfortable, for the price I would expect a proper bed 🙁 we were four and only two got to sleep comfortably. also it wasn't mentioned before booking that a safety deposit payment is a must before checking in.

  We only stayed for 2 nights, but it was sufficiently comfortable even for the 4 of us. Excellent location, clean and well equipped. Great value for our money.
  
  What could be improved: It's sub ground floor, so not that sunny, but it's okay if you are sleeping in late or spend most of the time wondering in the city as we did.

  construction going on around the property. after taking that much of money and also tbe car details, I anticipated that they provide parking tickets but it was not the case..
  one of the two attached beds was broken. no bedsheets were put on the mattress.
  The worst part is the apartment is kind of in the basement and one does not recognise
  about this fact from the pictures. so no fresh air
  and every time you or your neighbours open water
  tap, it makes so much noise, I guess due to the
  vacuum suction system for the water! my daughter was all the
  time scared of that noise. not at all recommended
  for the family and not at all worth of almost 200 euros I paid/night..

  What could be improved: Mieszkanie w piwnicy wiec mało światła. Kiepska Pompa do wody w odpływach więc szybko się zatykały, wszystkie na raz w toalecie, pod prysznicem i w kuchni.

  What could be improved: Fenster nach draußen haben Milchglas – mir wäre Klarglas lieber (mit Vorhang zum Zuziehen), weil man sich etwas eingesperrt fühlt dadurch, daß man nicht herausschauen kann. Wasserpumpe im Bad macht ein Geräusch – wir konnten damit gut leben empfindsame Menschen mag dies stören

  A localização era excelente, o apartamento era confortável, limpo, e sem ruído. Não faltava qualquer tipo de equipamento, e o aquecimento funcionava muito bem. As camas eram boas, tinha uma mesa para trabalhar e fazer refeições, tudo ótimo.
  
  What could be improved: O ralo do chuveiro estava avariado e era preciso ter muito cuidado ao tomar banho para evitar que a água transbordasse o que acontecia passados dois ou três minutos. Por outro lado, houve um atraso significativo no check-in (cerca de três quartos de hora, o que se compreende) mas no check out bateram-nos à porta faltavam cinco minutos para as dez da manhã, o que apesar de estarmos prontos nos pareceu excessivamente rigoroso (o check out era entre as nove e as dez).
