I mean, look – it’s a solid 4-star property with an 8.4 rating, and those numbers make sense when you’re actually staying there. The rooms have this perfect balance of being stylish without feeling like you can’t touch anything. What I really appreciated was how quiet everything was, even though you’re right in the heart of Hamburg. The windows must be triple-glazed or something because you’d never know there’s a bustling city outside. The beds are proper comfortable too – none of that rock-hard European mattress nonsense you sometimes get. And the bathrooms? Well, let’s just say Germans know how to do a good shower.

Here’s the thing though – it’s the little details that separate The George from other hotels in this category. The concierge team actually knows Hamburg inside and out, not just the tourist spots but the places locals go. They pointed me toward this incredible fish market area that I never would’ve found otherwise, and gave me timing tips that saved me from showing up when everything was closed. The breakfast setup is worth mentioning too – it’s not some sad continental spread, but actually substantial food that’ll fuel you for a day of exploring. Parking was surprisingly straightforward for a city center location, though I’d still recommend checking availability when you book. The only minor thing I’d note is that the elevators can be a bit slow during busy periods, but honestly, that’s me being picky. If you’re looking for a place that gets the fundamentals right without any pretense – good location, comfortable rooms, staff who care – The George delivers on all fronts.

  The interior design, the wonderful library and the breakfast. The rooms are gorgeous. The staff lovely. Location is convenient close to the train station

  I've been coming to The George for many years now. The hotel is well situated and I enjoy its ambiance. Rooms are perfect and the restaurant excellent. I'm glad that the sauna is working again.

  Modern hotel in close proximity to local shops, restaurants etc. shirt walk from Central railway station with plenty of buses into and out of the city.

  A nice location, a lot of cafes around while still a quiet area. Half an hour walk from the Rathaus. Very nice spatious and clean rooms with a good design. A balcony with an ashtray. Late breakfast, and the breakfast itself was very nice. A popular bar downstairs was also a pleasant feature.
