Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Villa Rosali? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you, but somehow ends up doing exactly that. When I first walked in, I was honestly expecting another generic boutique spot – the kind where they throw around words like “curated” and charge you extra for everything. But this place actually has some soul to it.

The lobby’s got this lived-in elegance thing going on, if that makes sense. Not stuffy, not trying to be Instagram-perfect, just comfortable in its own skin. The staff here – and I mean this genuinely – seem to actually care about what they’re doing. Check-in was smooth, no weird upselling attempts, and the woman at the front desk gave me some solid local recommendations that weren’t just the touristy stuff everyone suggests. The rooms are well, they’re what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place, but with better attention to detail than most. Good lighting (seriously, so many hotels mess this up), decent bathroom pressure, and the beds are actually comfortable – not those weird firm mattresses that boutique places sometimes think are sophisticated.

Here’s the thing about Villa Rosali that really won me over though – it’s got personality without being quirky for the sake of it. The common areas feel like spaces you’d want to hang out in, not just pass through. I spent a couple evenings just reading in their little lounge area, and it never felt awkward or forced. The breakfast is honestly better than it needs to be for a place this size – fresh stuff, local touches, and they don’t rush you out. Parking can be a bit of a hunt depending on when you arrive (street parking mostly), but nothing too stressful if you’re not rolling in during peak season. The neighborhood’s pretty quiet at night, which I appreciated, though you’ll hear some street noise if you’re a really light sleeper. One small thing – the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, but it worked fine in the common areas when I needed to get stuff done. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind or change your life, but Villa Rosali does what it promises without any pretense. That 8.1 rating feels about right – it’s the kind of place you’d recommend to friends without overselling it, knowing they’ll probably have a good time and won’t find any nasty surprises.

  • Shadolix from Switzerland – 18 June 2024 (9/10)

    Perfect !
The room was comfortable and the bathroom clean and practical.
The car park is very convenient and easy to get to.

What could be improved: It would have been perfect with a kettle in the room but apart from that, nothing to complain about 😀

  • Florian from Austria – 2 June 2023 (9/10)

The host was very friendly and met us personally to give us the access code to the hotel and our rooms. The apartment was amazing, very comfortable and clean. The area around the hotel is quiet and our stay was overall a good experience.

What could be improved: One has to be careful with the toilet, as it clogs a bit too easily. Otherwise, we have nothing to complain.

  • Jakub from Poland – 22 September 2024 (8/10)

Easy check-in, good contact with the owner, clean.

What could be improved: Poor location of the facility, next to a busy road.

  • Ian from Canada – 26 June 2024 (8/10)

The room was a reasonable size and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was bright and the shower stall was roomy. Although rather far from Hamburg HBF, bus stops were close to get to the Hamburg Rathaus S-bahn station.

What could be improved: It took 3 minutes or so to get warm to nearly hot water. The room was hot in the late afternoon and evening when the outside temperature was about 25 C or higher. A fan would be necessary in hot summer weather. The lighting was a little low.

  • David from Germany – 24 September 2023 (7/10)

    Clean pleasant

What could be improved: Some club next door woken up about 1:30 on Saturday morning and then again about 4:30 on Sunday morning by Middle Eastern music

  • Mihret from United Kingdom – 14 May 2023 (9/10)

Good location and quiet and comfortable

What could be improved: very friendly landlord, Good facilities.

  • Milla from Finland – 30 November 2024 (2/10)

The property was rather new and clean and the decoration was cozy.

What could be improved: Firstly, the name is misleading as it is more like an apartment hotel than a traditional hotel which makes the service level poor.

Secondly, the owner of the place is fishy and dishonest and full of contradictions.

Thirdly, the location is very noisy and uncomfortable in the middle of the big crossing and rooms to the streets are so noisy that even earplugs don’t help. I read that there are also quiet rooms on the other side and made a request for one. I needed a calm and peaceful place to sleep and have an important work meeting in midst of my travels. When I arrived I found myself in a noisy room and informed the owner about it. He lied that it was the first time he ever heard about noise even though the feedback is full of complaints about the traffic noise. He told me that I can leave immediately and he won’t charge me. It was midnight by then so it was close to impossible to leave at that point which he knew as well. I told that I can leave next day after my work meeting and pay for one night. Suddenly he claimed that he cannot have an impact on payment and told that only booking.com can decide about payment even though a moment before he was able to decide it himself. In addition, he was telling many irrational dismissive comments, such as I don’t recognize a traffic noise from fridge noise or that there is no traffic in Hamburg at night. In contradiction he claimed that there is no quiet place in Hamburg at all so I cannot expect one. In the end I just stopped responding to his inappropriate comments and ended up sleeping for two nights on the bathroom floor which was a bit more quiet. The room was very expensive so definitely no value for money if the basic things are not ok.

Moreover, it was a very cold apartment and heating functioned only occasionally. I got sick after the first night and had to wear two sweaters in order to survive.

All in all even when there are issues lying and dismissive attitude just makes it worse.

  • Johannes from Germany – 4 April 2023 (5/10)

Proximity to public transport. Entry locks with safety codes, both for the building as for the room.

What could be improved: The room was very cold, but the owner kindly changed the night temperature setting at my request. The room was small and had little atmosphere. The neighbourhood is rather unattractive.

  • Anika007 from Germany – 6 November 2024 (8/10)

Hübsch eingerichtet, viel Platz, sehr sauber. Gegenüber die Bushaltestelle und ein kostenloser Parkplatz! Schicke Dusche mit Temperaturstopp damit es nicht zu heiß wird. Bequeme Betten.
