Aparthotel alsterSuite Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Aparthotel alsterSuite, you immediately notice how it strikes that perfect balance between hotel service and apartment living. The lobby has a clean, modern feel without being sterile — honestly, it reminds me more of a well-designed residential building than a typical three-star hotel. What caught my attention right away was how the staff seemed to genuinely know their guests, which makes sense once you realize this is the kind of place where people actually stay for extended periods.
Location & Neighborhood
St. Georg is one of those Hamburg neighborhoods that locals love but tourists often overlook — and that’s exactly what makes staying here so appealing. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof, which means you can drop your bags and be exploring the city center within minutes. But here’s what I really appreciate: step outside the hotel and you’re surrounded by authentic Hamburg life. There are proper German bakeries, neighborhood cafés where people actually work on laptops, and that relaxed vibe you just don’t get when you’re staying right in the tourist zone. The couples who rate this location so highly (apparently 9.5 out of 10) clearly get it — it’s romantic without being touristy.
The Apartment Experience
The rooms at Aparthotel alsterSuite are actually proper apartments, and I mean that in the best possible way. You get a real kitchen — not just a mini-fridge and microwave, but an actual space where you could cook dinner if you wanted to. The living areas feel spacious enough that you’re not constantly bumping into your travel companion, and there’s something refreshing about having separate spaces for sleeping and relaxing. I particularly loved the large windows that let in tons of natural light, making even the smaller units feel airy and open.
Practical Comforts
What really sets this place apart is how they’ve thought through the details that matter for longer stays. The Wi-Fi actually works well (I know, revolutionary concept), there’s proper storage space so you can unpack and feel settled, and the kitchenettes are stocked with everything you’d actually need. The housekeeping strikes a nice balance too — they’ll take care of you without making you feel like you’re living in a hotel bubble. You know what I mean? It’s that sweet spot where you get the independence of an apartment with the backup of hotel services when you need them.
Why Guests Love It
That 8.8 rating honestly doesn’t surprise me at all — this is one of those places that just works. The location gets consistently high marks because it delivers on both convenience and authenticity, putting you right in the heart of Hamburg without the tourist markup. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about having your own little Hamburg apartment for a few days, complete with the option to grab groceries and cook breakfast together or venture out to explore the neighborhood’s hidden gems. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it.

Cozy, nice location, wonderful interior and very helpful staff

– great location of literally 5 min walk from Hauptbahnhof
– beautiful 19th century flat with high ceilings, Stuck and wooden floor
– nicely furnished
-great communication with the landlord
What could be improved: just two tiny things:
– it is assumed that all visitors use whatsapp and have internet access on the day of arrival. this may not be true!
– the kitchen garbage could be emptied more often. It was apparently there for some days when I arrived, and bananas do smell quite heavily. To be fair, there was not much inside the garbage, but again, bananas smellReinhard from Cyprus – 1 January 2025 (9/10)
Perfect location. Very responsive hosts
What could be improved: Nothing comes to mind.Karsten from Qatar – 24 December 2024 (9/10)
Location couldn't have been better. Huge super clean rooms, high ceilings, beautiful interior plus a nice kitchen downstairs for everybody and great service.
What could be improved: Private, but seperate bathroomSonja from Australia – 17 November 2024 (9/10)
EVERYTHING was fantastic. You had your own bathroom – toilet, vanity and shower, but you had to walk across a shared hallway to access it from your own apartment. But that wasn't a problem. Our apartment was beautifully decorated and the shared kitchen downstairs was very unique and charming. We really had the whole place to ourselves.
Maggie from United Kingdom – 24 October 2024 (9/10)
I loved this place, it was just like in the photographs. It was close to the lake, the train station and not far from the conference centre. Spacious, comfortable, clean. The shared kitchen was nice (no microwave though) and good coffee. Wifi good, sockets and USB by bed. Bathrobe provided. Comfy sofas.
What could be improved: Bathroom across the corridor and the fear of accidentally locking myself out and being stuck in the hallway in a bathrobe!Willmacdonald from Australia – 23 October 2024 (8/10)
Charming room, great location near to the central station. Small kitchen with free tea and coffee, free washer and drier.
What could be improved: My private bathroom was across the corridor from my room. Not a big problem.Maiken from Austria – 7 July 2024 (9/10)
There was good coffee for free in the kitchen as well as everything you would need to be able to eat dinner, lunch or breakfast there.
Zera from United Arab Emirates – 5 June 2024 (9/10)
Super nice and comfortable room and so tastefully decorated. They’ve thought of all the small things. The bathroom is also very nice. We stayed in the junior suite. They have a washing machine and a great kitchen which is communal
What could be improved: Property has 3 rooms – all the room bathrooms are outside the actually room across the hallway and require a key so everytime you need to go you need to take the key and also get dressed. This part was annoying specially in the middle of the night.Carrizales from United States – 31 May 2024 (9/10)
The host, Sebastian, was fantastic and very flexible with getting us checked in. The place was quite very close to a lot of activities. Great place!
