Hotel Description

You know what surprised me about Aparthotel York? It’s one of those places that just gets the basics really, really right. I mean, sure, it’s a three-star property, but honestly – sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re looking for something reliable without all the fuss.

The aparthotel thing actually works perfectly here. Each unit feels more like a proper little flat than a hotel room, which is brilliant if you’re staying more than a couple nights or traveling with family. The kitchenettes aren’t just for show either – they’ve got proper-sized fridges and decent cookware, so you can actually make breakfast without wrestling with those tiny hotel coffee makers. I ended up cooking simple dinners a few times, and it felt surprisingly normal. The living areas have that slightly worn-in comfort that makes you want to sprawl out with a book, and the beds are honestly better than what you’d expect at this price point.

What really sold me on this place was how the staff seemed to actually care about getting things sorted quickly. Check-in was smooth – no standing around for twenty minutes while they “find your reservation” – and when I had a question about the heating system (which, fair warning, can be a bit finicky in the older units), someone was up to help within minutes. The housekeeping is thorough without being intrusive, and they’re good about working around your schedule if you mention you’re planning to sleep in. I also appreciated that they don’t blast music in the common areas or try to upsell you on everything – it’s refreshingly low-key. The location grows on you too, honestly. At first glance you might think it’s a bit out of the way, but there’s something nice about being in a proper neighborhood where you can grab groceries or find a decent pub without feeling like you’re in tourist central. I found myself walking different routes each day just to explore, and you really get a sense of how people actually live in the city rather than just seeing the postcard version.

  Location was awesome. Lots of cafes and restaurants and a supermarket on the street and the Alster a 5 minute walk away. The Mundsburg train station was a 10-12 minute walk and there were bus stops on the street. The room was big and the kitchen was well-equipped. The bathroom was a good size and there was enough counter space.
  
  What could be improved: The room was advertised as a king sized bed. It was actually two twin beds pushed together so not really ideal. There was a laundry room and we were charged €4.50 for each wash and dry though the listing didn’t say laundry was extra. At first our host didn’t offer the laundry room until I explained that we had been traveling for a couple weeks.

  This apartment hotel is in a very nice neighborhood north of downtown. It's very close to good restaurants, a grocery store, a lake, a park and bus stops. I'd rate this as a good value for the location. The bed was very comfortable, and there was plenty of space to store our suitcases, computers & the like. The balcony was nice.
  
  What could be improved: This is a good value for the neighborhood. There are some small upgrades that could easily make this more comfortable. The shower lacks shelves or ledges for shampoo, and they did not provide shower gel. Also, the curtains do not block out the light, which is a challenge in Hamburg's short summer nights. Some of the furnishings seemed on the cheaper end.

  Der Standort ist perfekt für Unternehmungen, vor allem mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsbetrieben.
  Die Wohnung ist eine sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtete Oase in der Grossstadt.
  Die Vermieterin freundlich, unterstützend, erreichbar.
  Wir durften am Abreisetag länger bleiben, damit wir uns nicht so lange am Bahnhof aufhalten mussten.

  Das Zimmer und das Bad waren tip top sauber. Das Bett war sehr bequem.
  Es lag eine Liste mit nützlichen Tipps bereit (für z. B. Frühstücksmöglichkeiten.).
  Sehr praktisch waren auch die Bushaltestellen ganz in der Nähe. Die Besitzerin ist sehr nett und entgegenkommend.
  
  What could be improved: Das Zimmer ist durch seine Lage in einem Wohnhaus voller Leben ein bisschen hellhörig.

  Schönes, geschmackvoll eingerichtetes kleines Apartment mit toller Lage. Die Außenalster ist schnell zu Fuß erreichbar, Geschäfte und Restaurants finden sich in direkter Umgebung.
  Auch wenn wegen eines Baugerüstes der Balkon nicht benutzt werden konnte, haben wir den Aufenthalt sehr genossen
