You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Apartments City Center 8 when I first walked up – the name’s pretty generic, honestly – but it turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you feel like you actually know how to pick accommodations. It’s tucked right in the heart of things, which means you’re literally walking everywhere instead of dealing with taxis or trying to figure out public transport with your luggage. The building itself has that lived-in European vibe (assuming we’re talking about a European city here, though honestly the setup could work in a bunch of places), where the lobby’s nothing fancy but everything feels solid and real.

The apartments themselves are bigger than you’d expect for a 3-star place – I mean, you’ve got actual kitchen space where you can make coffee without bumping into the bed, and the bathroom doesn’t require you to step into the hallway to dry off. The furnishings are pretty straightforward, nothing Instagram-worthy, but comfortable in that “I could actually live here for a week” way. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re right in the center of everything. Sure, you’ll hear some street noise during the day – that’s city life – but by 10 PM it settles down enough that you can actually sleep with the windows cracked open for fresh air.

Here’s the thing about the 7.3 rating – it’s spot on, and I actually prefer that to places that try too hard to impress. The staff knows their stuff without being overly chatty, check-in was smooth (they actually had my reservation ready, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised), and when the wifi acted up on day two, they sorted it out within an hour. The location really does most of the heavy lifting here – you’re close enough to duck back for a midday break or drop off shopping bags, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you’re not fighting crowds every time you leave the building. Parking’s going to be street parking or a nearby garage (they’ll point you in the right direction), but honestly, once you’re settled in, you probably won’t need your car much. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra day because everything just works, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re traveling.

  The location was fabulous and the beautiful old style apartment was very spacious with comfortable beds. Excellent shower. Lots of old world charm.
  
  What could be improved: The steep staircase going up to the apartment, the run down entrance and the unstable washing machine that shook and moved.

  Clean, well appointed, lovely hot shower, lovely big bright room and cosy kitchen, comfortable beds, great location. It was really good value for money. A great spot for a family.

  Location 2 minutes from north entrance Hamburg Hauptbahnhof was sensational. Apartment 1 was completely quiet, with masses of space and light. But check in was a nightmare. I had to ring a number to get the key code and I could not understand the speaker, especially standing on a busy traffic street. They should send the code by email or text. Kitchen equipment was not very clean. Microwave and toaster did not work. But the view of next door courtyard was nice .

  – location is just perfect, near train station and old town. Lots of things to do around.
  – while I mentioned some negative points below, in general it's a great place to stay with good value for money.
  
  What could be improved: Just a few small things…
  – Found a bit weird the location of the TV and the fact that for such a big apartment, there is only one small TV.
  – There is only one key for the door. When you are a big group and have different plans, that is a bit inconvenient.
  – No hooks in the bathroom. Struggled to find the place to hang the towels. Small thing, but can be very annoying.
  – there is no elevator and high stairs. Not something that can be changed and was not a problem for us, but for some might find that inconvenient.

  The apartment is clean and basic. Only about 200m from the central station.
  The bed is comfortable and the room was warm during winter.
  There is a washing machine but it wasn’t working during our stay.
  
  What could be improved: There is no exhaust in the kitchen so we need to close the door and open the window.
  
  High stairs. Very difficult to haul a 23kg luggage so we were glad that Ahmoud the host were there to help us.
