You know what caught me off guard about Black Suite 4 Luxus? The name made me expect something a bit pretentious, but honestly, it’s just really well done without trying too hard. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Alster – and I’m talking about the good walking paths where locals actually jog, not some sketchy route behind buildings. The suite itself feels like someone’s stylish Hamburg apartment, if that someone happened to have excellent taste and a decent budget. The black and white color scheme could’ve been stark, but they’ve got these warm touches – good lighting, actual books on the shelves, that sort of thing that makes you think they actually care about the space.

What really sold me was the practical stuff that places sometimes mess up. The shower pressure is actually decent (which, let’s be honest, can be hit or miss in European hotels), and the kitchen setup means you can grab fresh stuff from the Alstertal market if you’re staying a few days. The bed is one of those where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re being swallowed – I slept better there than I do at home, which is saying something. The neighborhood itself is pretty quiet, especially compared to staying near the Hauptbahnhof, but you’re not stranded out in suburbia either. There’s this little bakery around the corner that locals line up at on weekend mornings, and honestly, watching that routine while having coffee became part of my morning there.

Here’s the thing though – at a 9.5 rating, you’re probably expecting perfection, and it’s more like “really, really good with character.” The wifi occasionally hiccupped during video calls (though maybe that was Hamburg in general), and the building’s entrance is a bit understated, so don’t expect a grand lobby experience. But that’s almost part of the charm? It feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, just with better towels and someone else cleaning up after you. If you’re the type who needs 24/7 room service or a concierge, this isn’t your spot. But if you want something that feels authentically Hamburg – close enough to walk along the water when the weather’s decent, near enough to real neighborhoods to grab dinner where actual residents eat – then yeah, this makes sense. Plus, parking isn’t a complete nightmare, which anyone who’s driven in Hamburg will appreciate.

  Apartment well located with restaurants, bakeries, pharmacies, shopping center and public transport a few meters away.
  Clean, comfortable, well decorated and with all the necessary equipment. Easy access to the apartment.

  The suite is located in the middle of Winterhude and is perfect for a family of 4 or less. There is nothing to complain about the apartment, it is very well equipped and furnished with great attention to detail. It really hit my (our) taste!
  
  What could be improved: The only negative point is the parking situation.
  Those who arrive with their own vehicle should be aware of this. However, this is always the case in such charming districts as well as large cities. A relatively inexpensive REWE supermarket car park is a 12-minute walk away, where you can also park your vehicle overnight. That being said, you can definitely have parking luck in the side streets.
