Look, I’ll be honest – when you first pull up to the Courtyard by Marriott Hamburg Airport, it’s not going to blow you away with some dramatic architecture or anything. It’s actually pretty understated, which I mean in the best way possible. You know how some airport hotels try way too hard to compensate for being, well, airport hotels? This one doesn’t bother with that nonsense. It just quietly does everything right.

The thing that struck me right away was how genuinely quiet it is inside. I was expecting that constant hum of jet engines you get at most airport properties, but honestly, once you’re in the lobby, you forget planes exist. The soundproofing is seriously impressive – and I’m someone who usually travels with earplugs because I’m paranoid about noise. The rooms have this clean, modern vibe without feeling sterile, if that makes sense. There’s actual wood furniture (not that fake laminate stuff), and the beds are firm in that perfect Marriott way. Plus, the blackout curtains actually work, which is crucial when you’re dealing with those weird northern European summer days where it’s bright until like 10 PM.

What really won me over though was the little stuff that shows someone’s actually thinking about what travelers need. The front desk staff – and I’m not just saying this – genuinely seemed to know Hamburg beyond just the airport shuttle schedule. When I mentioned I had a few hours to kill before my evening flight, the guy didn’t just hand me a tourist map. He actually walked around the counter and pointed out specific spots on his own phone, including this local brewery district that’s apparently only about fifteen minutes away by S-Bahn. The fitness center’s open 24/7 (tested this at 5 AM – it was spotless and well-equipped), and there’s this business center area that’s actually comfortable to work in, not just a couple sad computers shoved in a corner. The restaurant does a solid breakfast spread, though honestly, if you’re there on a weekend, you might want to venture into the city center instead – there’s some incredible local spots that are worth the short trip. Oh, and parking’s included, which is basically unheard of for a decent hotel this close to a major airport. Trust me on that one – I’ve paid through the nose at other places.

The concierge service in Hamburg can arrange exclusive tours of the historic port, secure reservations at traditional seafood restaurants, and organize personalized visits to the UNESCO World Heritage Speicherstadt and vibrant St. Pauli district.

  Lovely room and facilities, good location and great food. Most of the staff were very friendly.
  
  What could be improved: We were asked to leave the breakfast TWO times. We have never been rushed and asked to leave the breakfast. We had invited two guesta to come and eat with us and we felt very embarrassed. We started eating at 8.30 and already at 9.10 a waitress started to ask us to leave! The breakfast was on until 10.30 so they were not about to close.

  I loved everything about this hotel. The staff were fantastic and all spoke English which was great since I don't speak German. The restaurant and bar staff were particularly exceptional and went out of their way to entertain my 4 year old daughter – thank you so much! The complimentary hotel shuttle was the best part – used it throughout our stay to pick and drop from the airport so we could catch the direct train into the city center. The swimming pool is small but really cute and clean – was a bit cold though. We didn't get to see everything we wanted during our short so we'll be returning to Hamburg and will definitely stay at the same hotel.
  
  What could be improved: The pillows are too small and relatively uncomfortable for my liking. I requested for extra ones and was given more small ones so well…it's what it is:-) Would be great if they could get standard sized pillows.
