Ferienwohnung 28 sits right on Saseler Markt, and I mean literally on the market square – you’ll hear the vendors setting up their stalls around 7 AM on market days, which is either charming or annoying depending on whether you’re a morning person. The whole building got renovated recently, and honestly, it shows. None of that weird musty smell you sometimes get in older Hamburg accommodations, and the floors don’t creak when you walk around at night.

Four bedrooms sounds excessive until you realize how this works – it’s perfect for families or groups who actually want space to spread out. I’ve stayed in plenty of “family rooms” that are basically regular rooms with a sad pullout couch, but this feels like borrowing someone’s actual home. The kitchen is properly equipped too, not just a token gesture with a broken coffee maker and no can opener. There’s a decent grocery store maybe two minutes away, and the Saseler area has this neighborhood vibe that most tourists never see. It’s not flashy Hamburg like the Speicherstadt or St. Pauli – it’s where actual people live, with proper bakeries and that one Turkish place that locals queue up for on Sunday mornings.

The 7.5 rating feels about right, honestly. It’s solidly good without being fancy, and the three-star classification doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. You’re not getting marble bathrooms or turndown service, but everything works properly and the wifi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle during market hours – I ended up circling the block twice on Wednesday morning – but evenings and weekends are fine. The U-Bahn connection is decent enough, though you’ll want to factor in about 25 minutes to get into the city center. What I really appreciated was the space to actually unpack and settle in for a few days. Hotel rooms make me feel like I’m living out of a suitcase, but here you can spread out, maybe cook breakfast instead of paying hotel prices, and it doesn’t feel temporary. It’s the sort of place that works if you want to experience Hamburg like you’re staying with friends rather than just checking tourist boxes.

  Просторные апартаменты. Очень чисто и уютно. Магазин буквально в двух шагах. Два раза в неделю совершенно чудесный рынок на площади со свежайшими региональными продуктами.
  
  What could be improved: Учитывая гамбургскую погоду, постоянный дождь, который стучит по мансардным окнам в крыше, спать сложновато, но, вероятно, можно привыкнуть. В остальном очень тихо.
