So I’ve stayed at the IntercityHotel Hamburg Hauptbahnhof a bunch of times now, and honestly? It’s become my go-to spot when I need to be near the train station without dealing with the usual sketchy hotel vibes you get in that area. The thing is, most places right by Hauptbahnhof are either overpriced tourist traps or… well, let’s just say you wouldn’t want to leave your laptop unattended. This one’s different though – it actually feels like they thought about what travelers need.

The location is pretty much unbeatable if you’re doing the train thing. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from one of Germany’s busiest stations, but somehow the hotel manages to stay relatively quiet. Sure, you’ll hear some street noise if you’re facing the main drag, but it’s Hamburg – that’s just part of the deal. What I really appreciate is that you can stumble out of the hotel at 6 AM with your suitcase and catch pretty much any train without breaking a sweat. Plus, there’s this whole network of underground passages that connect to the station, which is clutch when it’s pouring rain (and let’s be real, this is Hamburg we’re talking about).

The rooms themselves are… look, they’re not going to win any design awards, but they’re solid. Clean, functional, decent Wi-Fi that actually works – you know, the stuff that matters when you’re trying to get things done. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and I’ve noticed they’ve been updating the bathrooms over the past couple years. The breakfast is pretty standard German hotel fare, but it gets the job done, and you can grab coffee downstairs pretty much anytime. What really sets this place apart though is the staff – they seem to actually know Hamburg, not just the tourist checklist stuff. Last time I was there, the front desk guy pointed me toward this little Turkish place around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it ended up being one of the best meals of my trip. The hotel sits at a solid 7.6 rating, which feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it delivers on what it promises without any nasty surprises. If you need to be near the Hauptbahnhof and want something reliable that won’t eat your entire budget, this is honestly your best bet.

  That the hotel is located close to Hamburg Central Station. Very handy if you need to catch an early train when leaving.

  The room is spacious and the location is excellent. It’s convenient to go anywhere. There are trains from the railway station to the airport.

  The hotel on entrance was clean, fresh light and airy. The room was the same clean, fresh… Good standard and no complaints. Did not have breakfast so can not comment on that.

  Close to Main Train Station, and they gave us their best room to celebrate our anniversary and had chocolate and champagne with a note of congratulations.
