You know what really caught me off guard about OBERDECK Studio Apartments? The fact that it’s adults-only actually makes a huge difference – and I say this as someone who usually doesn’t care about that stuff. There’s this calm, sophisticated vibe the moment you walk in that you just don’t get at regular hotels. The studios themselves are genuinely well-designed, not just Instagram-pretty but actually functional. I mean, the kitchen setup is small but they’ve thought through everything – decent counter space, real coffee maker (not those pod things), and storage that actually makes sense for a longer stay. The bed situation is solid too, and honestly, after staying in so many places with paper-thin walls, the sound insulation here is refreshingly good. You’re not hearing every conversation from the hallway or neighboring rooms.

What really sets this place apart though is the attention to detail that someone clearly put thought into. The lighting is warm and adjustable – none of those harsh overhead fluorescents that make you feel like you’re in an office. There’s actual art on the walls, not generic hotel prints, and the furniture feels substantial rather than that flimsy stuff you usually get in apartment hotels. The bathroom deserves a mention too because, well, it’s actually spacious enough to move around in, and the shower pressure is excellent. I stayed during what seemed like a busy period and never had issues with hot water running out. Check-in was smooth – they seem to have their systems figured out without being overly formal about it. The staff knows their stuff and can give you real recommendations, not just hand you a generic tourist map.

The whole experience feels more like staying at a really well-curated boutique place than a typical apartment rental. Sure, it’s pricier than some options, but honestly? You get what you pay for here. The cleanliness standards are high, everything works properly (shocking, I know), and there’s this sense that they actually want you to have a good stay rather than just process you through. The 5-star rating isn’t just on paper – you can feel it in how everything runs. And because it’s adults-only, there’s this relaxed energy where people are just… quieter, more considerate. No kids running down hallways at 6 AM or families having loud poolside debates about dinner plans. If you’re looking for somewhere to actually unwind and feel like you’re staying somewhere special rather than just crashing for the night, this place delivers. Just don’t expect bargain prices – but then again, sometimes it’s worth spending a bit more to actually enjoy where you’re staying.

  Clean, modern, close proximity to Altona train and bus station
  
  What could be improved: The narrow, steep staircase to the beds is quite dangerous. Leave some light on during the night to avoid accidents.

  Great location, right next to Altona station. Plenty bars and restaurants nearby. Spotlessly clean accommodation and good facilities. Rooftop terrace is a nice added bonus

  Rooms have everything you'd need. Rooftop was superb.
  
  What could be improved: There are unwashed utensils in the dishwasher. The fridge had some old milk probably from the last guests. Liquid soap dispenser on the bathroom is empty.

  Location is fantastic just 2 minute walk to the train station and 5 minutes on the train to the city centre. It’s also on the direct line to the airport, which takes around 30 minutes.
  
  The apartment itself self was very comfortable, slightly unusual but clever use of space with a kitchenette, inc fridge, microwave and coffee machine (there are coffee capsules but no milk or sugar – there is a supermarket within minutes of the hotel) but all necessary utilises were provided. The bathroom is spacious and clean with a lovely walk in the shower. The bed is on a small mezzanine, ceiling height is limited but it’s a full sized bed and very comfortable. The design of the stairs takes a little getting use to.
  
  The staff were lovely. The member of staff that checked me in was fantastic (I wish I had got his name) he was so friendly, helpful and provided me with lots of information.
  
  It’s was a great property in a great location and I would certainly stay again!

  The room was very well put together, small but clean and comfortable. The first room I got, was overlooking the street and the train station, so you could hear some noises during the night. Since it was a buisness trip, I requested to change the room, which I was able to for only 35€. I got a new room at the courtyard, which was super quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful all in all. There's also balcony on the very top, where you have a 360° view on the whole city.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing, that was really missing, was salt and sugar in the rooms. Since its an apartment, it would make sense to have that in the kitchen by default. Otherwise I can't complain.
