You know what caught me off guard about Stay! Hotel Boardinghouse? It’s actually way more comfortable than the name suggests. I mean, “boardinghouse” had me expecting shared bathrooms and paper-thin walls, but this place is honestly a solid mid-range option that punches above its 3-star rating.

The first thing you notice walking in is how they’ve managed to make what’s essentially an extended-stay concept feel genuinely welcoming. The lobby has this lived-in quality — not fancy, but comfortable in that “your friend’s really nice apartment” kind of way. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that forced upselling you get at chain hotels. The staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood well, which is rare these days. They pointed me toward a fantastic little coffee spot two blocks over that I never would’ve found otherwise.

The rooms themselves are where this place really shines. Look, it’s not luxury, but the layout is smart — there’s actual space to spread out, decent lighting for working (important if you’re like me and end up answering emails at weird hours), and the kitchenette setup is surprisingly functional. I ended up cooking breakfast a couple times, which saved money and honestly felt nice after too many hotel continental breakfast disasters. The beds are firm but comfortable, and here’s something I really appreciated — the blackout curtains actually work. I’m a light sleeper, and I slept through the night every time. The shower pressure is solid too, though the bathroom could use a small shelf or two for toiletries.

What I found interesting is how quiet it stays, even on weekends. Maybe it’s the type of travelers they attract — more business folks and extended-stay guests than party crowds. The neighborhood itself has that nice residential feel where you can actually walk around in the evening without feeling like you’re in tourist central. There’s decent parking nearby (not free, but not outrageous either), and I never had trouble finding a spot. Honestly, for the price point and that 8.3 rating, I can see why people return here. It’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — just does the fundamentals really well and lets you get on with your trip.

  What could be improved: In room 214 where I was the shower control wasn't working well so water never got hot, just warm. No issues with the sink. Informed staff when I checked out.

  Great service. The room had a great view. Loved the coffee machine and tea in the room. We got a welcome drink at check-in and there was water waiting in the room.

  Considering other pricy hotel options, worth the money. The area is not nice and it might be a bit creepy during the night, but the hotel is central and the room was really nice and clean. We were happy and would stay there again.

  The room was clean and as in the pictures. The decor was good. The staff was friendly. They offer free drinks every day. Reception 24/7. We were able to leave at night. Mini fridge. Cleaning was daily if you wanted.
  
  What could be improved: The hotel is located close to the city center and the main train station but the area was troubled. There were some strange people in the area. You have to be careful especially at night. The bed was quite hard. The restaurant next door, where breakfast is also served, does not follow the allergens listed on the menu. If you have any food allergies, do not eat there.

  The location is perfect. It’s close to the central train station and bus station and downtown attractions. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room is tidy and clean. The breakfast buffet is superb.
  
  What could be improved: There was a strong perfume smell for my first night. Hopefully it didn’t mean to cover up some other smells.

  the hotel is super clean, the checkin was done online, so i just received the keys. the hotel is also really quiet.
  the hotel is located around a lot of shops, restaurants which is convenient. i had an electric stoves in my room too
