Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first saw the name “Studio-Apartment 29 beim Saseler Markt,” I thought it might be one of those sterile corporate places, but it’s actually got this really nice lived-in feel that surprised me. The location right by Saseler Markt is pretty perfect if you know Hamburg at all – you’re in this genuinely local neighborhood where actual Hamburgers do their shopping, not some touristy bubble. I mean, you’ll hear the market setting up in the early morning (around 7 AM on weekdays), but honestly? It’s kind of charming once you get used to it.
The “frisch renoviert” part isn’t just marketing speak – you can actually tell they put real thought into the renovation. The studio layout works better than I expected, and they’ve managed to squeeze in everything you need without it feeling cramped. What I really appreciated was that they kept some character instead of going full IKEA-catalog bland. The kitchen area is small but functional (I made coffee every morning without issues), and the bathroom feels properly updated. You know what’s nice? The windows are decent quality, so even though you’re right in the neighborhood, it doesn’t get too noisy at night. Well, except for the occasional late-night reveler walking home from the S-Bahn, but that’s Hamburg for you.
Being a 3-star place, you’re not getting luxury amenities, but the value is solid – especially considering that 7.9 rating reflects what most guests actually experience. The Saseler Markt S-Bahn station is literally a few minutes’ walk, which means you can get into the city center in about 20 minutes. That’s the real win here, actually. You’re staying in a proper Hamburg neighborhood (Sasel has this nice suburban-but-not-boring vibe) while still having easy access to everything downtown. Parking can be a bit tricky during market days – Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings get busy – but there are usually spots on the side streets if you don’t mind walking a block or two. The whole area has this relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere that I found way more authentic than staying near the Reeperbahn or even in Altona. Plus, there’s a decent bakery right at the market and a surprisingly good Vietnamese place around the corner that locals seem to love.

Sauberkeit
What could be improved: Keine Sonnenrollos in der Küche und nicht ausreichendes Sonnenrollo im Schlaf/Wohnraum. Sehr spartanische Ausstattung der Küche. z.b. keine kleinen Obstmesser. Wenig Geschirr/ Gläser, keine Schneidbrettchen.Udo from Germany – 12 May 2025 (7/10)
What could be improved: Nachttischleuchte viel zu hell, Deckenleuchte im Schlafzimmer hängt zu tief, Stange für Duschkopf ist zu kurz und löst sich dadurch aus der Halterung
Apel from Germany – 4 February 2023 (5/10)
Gute Parkmöglichkeiten hinter dem Haus, einfache Übergabe dank Schlüsselsafe.
What could be improved: Es war während des gesamten Aufenthalts kein Mensch anzutreffen. Farhad from Australia – 3 January 2024 (8/10)
