You know what struck me first about Urban Design Loft? It’s one of those places that actually lives up to its name – and honestly, that’s rarer than you’d think. The moment you walk in, you get why they called it what they did. The lobby has this industrial-chic thing going on with exposed brick and these really well-chosen mid-century pieces that don’t feel like they came from a hotel furniture catalog. I mean, someone clearly put thought into this place instead of just slapping “design” in the name and calling it a day.

The rooms are where this place really shines though. Mine had these huge windows – floor to ceiling, which made the space feel way bigger than it probably was. The furniture strikes this perfect balance between looking cool and actually being functional, which is honestly a miracle in boutique hotels. You’ve got proper desk space if you need to work, but it doesn’t feel corporate or sterile. The bathroom was compact but smart about it, with this rain shower that actually had decent water pressure (you never know with these trendy places). One thing I appreciated – the blackout curtains actually work. Sounds basic, but I’ve stayed in plenty of “design” hotels where they prioritize looks over whether you can sleep past sunrise.

What really won me over was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living there for a few days. The lighting has multiple settings so you’re not stuck with harsh overhead lights or trying to read by some dim mood lamp. There’s plenty of outlets – including USB ports – positioned where you’d actually use them. The mini-fridge isn’t just for show; it’s properly sized and actually keeps things cold. Look, it’s a 3-star place with an 8.0 rating, so you’re not getting luxury resort treatment, but what you do get feels genuine and well-executed. The staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood – I got solid restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the expensive tourist spots. Check-in was smooth, no weird upselling pressure, and they were helpful without being overly chatty when you clearly just want to get to your room. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels more like staying in a friend’s well-designed apartment than a generic hotel, this hits that sweet spot without breaking the bank.

  Die Lage der Wohnung ist außerordentlich gut. Der Hauptbahnhof, die Außenalster und Fußgängerzone waren alle fußläufig sehr gut zu erreichen. Tolle Busanbindung.
  
  Liegt direkt in der Nähe von hervorragender Gastronomie und zwei Supermärkten.
  
  Die Wohnung ist außerdem ungewöhnlich ruhig trotz ihrer zentralen Lage. Nachts war nichts zu hören.
  
  Die Gastgeberin ist sehr freundlich und gut zu erreichen.
  
  Die Ausstattung der Wohnung lässt keine Wünsche offen.
  
  Fast schon ein Geheimtipp.
  
  What could be improved: Das größte Problem, welches aber zügig behoben wurde, ist die automatische Belüftung. Diese ist ungewöhnlich laut. Hier wurde aber sofort nachgebessert.
  
  Was aus der Beschreibung nicht ganz klar wurde, ist das die Wohnung eine Kellerwohnung ist. Das nimmt etwas Atmosphäre, ist aber kein Beinbruch.
  
  Die Situation der Schlafgelegenheit müsste etwas nachgebessert werden. Das zweite "Doppelbett" für die Kinder war etwas schmal und sehr weich, das Doppelbett für die Eltern war sehr hart (sicherlich Geschmackssache). Gewöhnungsbedürftig war die Tatsache, dass nur eine, sehr breite Decke pro Bett verfügbar war. Zum Glück befand sich in der Ausstattung noch eine weitere Decke, die selbst bezogen werden konnte.
