Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about ipartment Hamburg HafenCity? It’s got this whole modern apartment vibe going on that honestly feels way more grown-up than your typical 3-star spot. I mean, when you’re staying in HafenCity, you’re basically in Hamburg’s newest district – all that sleek glass and steel architecture rising up where old warehouses used to sit. The whole area still has this “we’re figuring ourselves out” energy, which I actually kind of love.

The apartment setup here is pretty clever, especially if you’re staying more than a couple nights. You get a proper kitchenette (not just one of those sad hotel coffee makers), and the space feels like someone actually lives there rather than just passes through. The 8.2 rating makes total sense once you settle in – it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything works the way it should. I noticed they’ve really thought about the details that matter when you’re away from home for a while. The WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, there’s actual counter space in the bathroom, and – this might sound small – but the curtains actually block out light, which is clutch during Hamburg’s ridiculously long summer days.

What really sold me on the location was walking to the Elbphilharmonie in about ten minutes. You can see that massive concert hall from some of the windows, and honestly, having it right there makes you feel plugged into what Hamburg’s becoming. The Speicherstadt is basically next door too, so you’re surrounded by all these red-brick warehouse buildings that somehow make the modern HafenCity towers look even more dramatic. Mornings are surprisingly quiet considering you’re in the middle of the city’s big development – I think because it’s still more business district than residential, so weekends especially have this peaceful, almost empty feeling. The U4 subway line runs right through the area, which means you can get to the Hauptbahnhof or St. Pauli without thinking about it. And look, parking in HafenCity can be a nightmare during the week, but if you’re flying in anyway, you’re golden – the whole district is basically designed around not needing a car. For a 3-star place, ipartment Hamburg HafenCity delivers exactly what you’d want: a clean, comfortable base in one of Hamburg’s most interesting neighborhoods, without any of the pretentious hotel theater that usually comes with staying somewhere this well-located.

Reviews

  • Marcelmr from Netherlands – 31 December 2024 (8/10)

Location (great), available equipment in the room

  • Nalan from Ireland – 17 December 2024 (9/10)

Location is in walking distance to all attractions in the old town which is the city center. Twenty minute walk to the hotel from the hamburg main station. Comfortable bed, nice kitchen with all the utilities that you might need during your stay.

  • Philippe from Switzerland – 6 December 2024 (8/10)

    Comfortable, clean, good location

What could be improved: The cleaning lady knocked twice before check out time.

  • Josephine from Canada – 12 November 2024 (8/10)

The ability to cook and do laundry on a long work trip

What could be improved: Difficult to understand how to collect the keys to enter the building

  • Rania from Tunisia – 19 December 2022 (8/10)

it was immaculately clean. nicely furnished and well equipped. The location is excellent with a supermarket and restaurants very close by. bus stop is literally at its door step.

  • Yimin from Germany – 23 July 2022 (8/10)

The location is very convenient and close to where I work. in general a very nice area.
Check in was contactless and very smooth.
the room was clean and well equipped with almost everything you need.

What could be improved: It could be a bit too loud in the evening since it's so close to a major street.
There was no cutting board in the kitchen, nor shower gel in the bathroom, which I think could be added.
The cleaning lady started knocking on the door since 9am on the check out day. I felt a bit sorry that she had to wait for me to clear out in the hallway so I rushed to finish packing. But the official check out time is supposed to be until 11am so it probably shouldn't have happened like that.

  • Leo from Netherlands – 25 March 2025 (7/10)

What could be improved: There was still rubbish from the previous occupant and the towels were hanging loosely over the radiator instead of stacked, so I wasn't sure if they were clean

  • Pedro from Portugal – 30 May 2024 (9/10)

The small welcome gift, how cozy and clean the room was.

What could be improved: The pillow was aweful.

  • Maria from India – 4 October 2022 (9/10)

It was a business trip. I liked the location and the check-in was super easy. Room is small, comfortable for one person. There is a bus stop, right in front of the hotel. Just 200m away you will find a supermarket, some coffee and food places as well.

What could be improved: On one occasion there was a foul smell in the bathroom. I could not figure out why and since it was there only for few mins, I did not inform anyone. But other than that the room was clean.

  • Naipak from Belgium – 30 March 2023 (7/10)

The amenities of the room had everything you might need. Including kitchen utensils, towels and washing liquids and soaps. The location was great, easy to get to every corner of the city. Complementary snacks and drinks were a very nice touch to the stay, ad it sets a positive, welcoming mood for the entire stay.

What could be improved: I had a problem with my bed. Which I adressed with the facilities, and a representative has even come to check up on me, but afterwards there was no resolution. And the bed was relatively uncomfortable to sleep in because of the issue. If I didn’t have that issue I think the stay would have been perfect.
