You know what caught me off guard about this place? The sheer amount of space you get for a 3-star property in Hamburg. I mean, when they say it sleeps 12, they’re not talking about people crammed into bunk beds like sardines – there’s actually room to breathe and spread out your stuff without stepping on each other.

The location’s pretty solid, honestly. You’re not right in the thick of the Speicherstadt tourist madness, which I actually appreciated after spending a day dodging tour groups around the warehouse district. It’s more in one of those residential areas where you hear actual German being spoken on the street instead of just English and broken tourist phrases. The U-Bahn connections are decent – maybe a 10-minute walk to the nearest station, which isn’t bad at all when you’re hauling groceries back for a group dinner. And speaking of groceries, there’s an EDEKA within walking distance that doesn’t completely gouge you on prices like some of the smaller shops near the harbor do.

What really works here is the kitchen setup. I’ve stayed in plenty of “apartment-style” places where the kitchen is basically a hot plate and a mini-fridge, but this one’s actually equipped for cooking real meals. The dining table fits everyone comfortably – well, maybe it’s a bit snug for all 12, but we made it work for our group of 9 without anyone eating standing up. The Wi-Fi’s reliable (crucial when you’re coordinating a large group), and honestly, the check-in process was way smoother than I expected. No standing around for 20 minutes while they find your reservation or explain eighteen different rules about towels and keys.

I will say, if you’re expecting hotel-level service and daily housekeeping, this isn’t that kind of place. It’s more like borrowing a friend’s apartment – which, for the price point and group size, makes total sense. The noise level’s pretty reasonable; you’ll hear some street sounds during the day, but it’s not like trying to sleep next to the Reeperbahn at 2 AM. Parking’s… well, it’s Hamburg, so parking’s always going to be a bit of a thing, but there are spots on the surrounding streets if you’re patient and don’t mind walking a block or two.

The whole place just feels practical in a way that works really well for groups. Everyone’s got their own space to retreat to when needed, but the common areas are comfortable enough that you don’t feel like you’re all just hiding in separate corners. Plus, at an 8.0 rating, you’re getting exactly what you’d expect – nothing fancy, but solid and reliable. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially when you’re more focused on exploring the city than lounging around your accommodation all day.

  What could be improved: Check in per PIN, zu unpersönlich. Checkout erst um 10.00, auf Nachfrage um 11.00. Aber beim elektronischen Checkout konnte man 11.00 gar nicht anklicken. Hatte zur Folge, dass ich ständig Emails schreiben musste, ob das ok ist. Nach den AGB droht Strafe von 100 Prozent des Zimmerpreises, wenn man zu spät auscheckt. Finde ich alles unnötig und nervig. 150,00 Euro Kaution finde ich auch komisch. Zur Ausstattung. Die üblichen eher sparsamen Ikea-Devices. Ein Händehandtuch pro Person wäre schön. Teppich könnten Teppichstopper gebrauchen. Sie rutschten ziemlich an den Ecken. Wer falsch aufkommt, kann übel fallen.
